    13" street wheels -

They are 7" classic race - stripped and painted orange, they look more red in the photo but they are actually closer to KTM orange in the flesh.

Hi Dom Anything that is capable of removing powder coating will be pretty strong stuff and will burn etc. on skin contact. Having said that, it only contains the chemical that was removed from Nitromors to make it pc in today's world. Safety glasses, long rubber gloves (like you would wear in a blast cabinet) and lots of ventilation and all will be fine - I personally do it outside in the garden and that would be my recommendation. Remove as much as you can using various implements and then stick it in a large container of water and wait till it stops fizzing! Any remaining coating will probably scrape off ok, but if not, dry and repeat on the remainder. Powder coating if done correctly is very tough and even with this stuff it will take a reasonable amount of time to soften. On alloy components especially, I prefer to strip chemically and the bead blast using fine glass bead - it's much kinder to the surface than grit.

Nitromors won't, but https://www.spraygunsdirect.co.uk/starchem-synstryp-paint-stripper-5-litre.html#sthash.LZ0zWpI5.0Tddiskt.dpbs will, I bought some exactly for removing powder coating and it works!

    Shock absorbers

I think only shocks the likes of Nitron etc. Will run upsidown correctly. Those look like the more normal twin tube intervals fitted to the bulk of Westfield's and I am pretty sure will not perform correctly as mounted. Didn't the inboard arb specify Nitron shocks so they could run upsidedown?

Advice needed. It's raining in my new garage!

Compressor type dehumidifiers don't work very well at lower temperatures, you need to get a dessicant one such as https://www.meacodehumidifiers.co.uk/meaco-junior-8-litre-dehumidifier-dd8lj?gclid=Cj0KEQiA4o3DBRCJsZqh8vWqt_8BEiQA2Fw0eW-dMuzrX4MCXFh1IZtqQIhdC_NeDa5ablgwCr-2zcAaAlxr8P8HAQ or similar. They will pull out the moisture at any temperature and knock spots off the compressor type.

Zetec to duratec- worth the hassle?

Aren't all the holes in the bodywork on the opposite sides? That would cost some money/effort to sort out to make it a neat job.

Favourite things, apart from the Westie would be an ex-garage compressor, bead blasting cabinet, pillar drill, lathe, powder coating gun and oven.

How much droop do you have

I'm going to be replacing the rear shocks on my Westie but I have the earlier rear wishbones which are a little shorter than the ones on later cars so standard 14" shocks are too long. To help me pick the optimum length it would be helpful to know how much droop people have on the rear of their cars - or to put it another way how far you have to jack up the rear before the wheel leaves the ground. I want to make sure that when driving I don't top out on the rear shocks, but I can't find any real world data after a great deal of searching. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Powdercoating distortion?

What type of powder are they using? I do all my powder coating at 180c If powder coating temperatures distorted chassis's we'd all be driving around in bent Westies!

Zetec 2ltr Starter motor hot /freeze

Best to give them a call, mine was a special as I have a Raceline steel flywheel. They may ask you to measure the distance between the flywheel and the starter mounting face, the diameter of the pinion and how many teeth it has if your setup is not a standard one.

Zetec 2ltr Starter motor hot /freeze

I used to have exactly the same with mine. In the end I went for a Brise geared starter motor and although expensive I've never looked back, they crank fast and use something like 1/2 the current - especially useful if you have a small battery!
