  1. @Benrobson2999 - Kent AO I know I harp on about this a lotwhenever I see a pic posted on the forum, but your passenger's harness is woefully mal-adjusted. In an accident, she would 'submarine' under the belt and down into the foot well, and the cross-strap/buckle would wreck havoc with her chesticles/armpits/throat/neck. Most lay-passengers aren't clued on the intricacies of harness adjustment, so it's up to the captain to ensure the passenger is safe and instructed. You probably already do the following yourself self- consciously, but loosen off the shoulder straps fully and get the passenger (and help if necessary) to tighten down the hip straps first. For the first seating of the day's run, it maybe easier to sort the passenger before you climb into your side. Folks, notice I said hip straps, and not waist or stomach straps. Only then, once the hip strap is snug and tight, are the shoulder straps adjusted snug against the chest but not too tight that they are trying to hoick the hip strap up. If you have multiple passengers, they are all different shapes and sizes and the procedure needs to be followed for each. I'm an ex-Airforce flight safety tech dealing with ejection seat and parachute harnesses, so this stuff has been drilled into me - and I wish everyone in any kind of harness the best chances of survival when s*** happens.👍

  2. Evening all. Yesterday morning, the first lovely Sunday in a while round my area had been forecast; so up early I get to take the Westfield for it's first proper spin of the year. Got my bits together, wife not expecting me back until lunch, no jobs around the house, super. Key won't go into the ignition barrell. I decide there's either there's some debris in the barrel, or the first pin is seized. So anyway, some hours later and a trip to the shops, the key has been pounded flat with a wooden mallet. The ignition barrell has been WD40d, Graphite Powdered, blasted through with air and generally probed like an Alien abductee. It's too late to go on my trip, and the key still won't go in. Locksmiths have been googled. I debate trying to pull the ignition barrel off the car, but that's a giant PITA. And then I stop trying to use the boot key to start the car and just put the ignition key in. Starts first time, of course. So, anyway, I was wondering: What's the stupidest (safe) thing you've done with your car recently? Make me feel better about how I wasted my Sunday 🙂 Si

  3. I had to deliver something I had sold to a place called Thurloxton near Taunton today, and decided to take Winston because the weather was so nice. Some cracking roads and some dull roads, but really enjoyed the drive. Stopped on the Coombe Farm approach road on the way back for some pics. On the way out on the A30, I exchanged waves with a BRG and yellow Westfield, not sure if it is anyone on here? Also had a number of chats with people who were interested in the car when I parked up, plus a ‘That’s a really cool car’ and a thumbs up from a young girl out with her mum 😊.

  5. Thanks Eveveryone great start to the season, Qauli was very wet and im not one to enjoy that challenge but I was very happy with P7, given I qualified P19 in october at Silverstone this was a big leap up the grid. there were a few fast boys who would likley fly past in race one so was very happy to finish P10 although I did have so damage to the fresh paint and cut a tyre sidwall down to the cords. Race 2 was much cleaner although a lock up into Vale on the last lap cost me 2/3 places. still a good start to the season at a circuit I dont like, Snetterton is in 3 weeks on the 6th April which is another place i havent spent much time and is a power led track so being above the min weight isnt ideal. moving on later into the better tracks of Oulton park, Angelsea, Croft, Cadwell and donnington all of which i love and have had good results at last year. we wind up at brands hatch in october where I have never done a lap before so testing will be paramount their. anyway most of the rounds are live on you tube and most races are very good club motorsport to watch. thanks

  6. Time for a related confession… Years ago now, a member who shall remain nameless was publicly obsessed with his point count and hitting the next level, posting a load of nonsense just to hit target. Those of you who know me will understand why I did what I did next…😇 I went backstage several times in the space of three hours and kept knocking 10 off his post count, so that every time he got near to target, he suffered a setback. Now most of you would have smelled a rat at this point, but not our friend. He was furious and contacted the webmaster (at my suggestion). Sadly for him, the webmaster was in on it too, and claimed nothing was amiss. Our friend’s fury was most amusing indeed, and he finally did hit his target the next day, although he fumed for several days that he had been cheated. Wrong - he’d been robbed. 😇 (I added the points back in a week later.) The lessons: > Point levels on member accounts can be fiddled by motivated admins > Never show your weaknesses in front of me > I don’t kick people when they’re down - just when they’re not looking > I’m more devious than you ever realised 🤣

  7. Winter tinkering complete! just two ball joints and the most thorough clean i think shes had since i had it (8years) I got a DA for xmas so gave it a go. It has not got rid of the bigger marks as I did not know what i was doing so went cautious, but it got rid of the washing swirls of the slap a wash mit over it job that i like to do😜. I removed side stripes as they were starting to show there age but have added some decals this year. RL200 is the engine spec being a zetec r from Raceline. I was a little unsure of how they would come out but think it works well to break up the blue. Super happy with how its come out 👍 roll on summer!

  10. I hope you defrosted the rabbit before making the casserole @ianali 🤣🤣🤣. Easter Bunnies beware if the Wesfield club comes out next weekend!! We met at Cupola, a stunningly designed building in a stunning setting, reflecting the lead processing history of the area. Inside the cafe we tucked into breakfast Back outside everyone had parked together We went on a run which was full of twisties and new roads to keep the drivers happy and amazing views to keep the passengers happy. Thank you to Ali for capturing a snippet of the views, you are nearly as good at photography as your husband😁 Arriving at The Whitworth Centre, Darley Dale just in time to raid the cake counter. Ian had us rolling with laughter as he had not operated a real, non phone camera since he was about 10, so it's not a bad photo considering. In the car park After deciding that we perhaps should not be allowed to keep pets it was time to leave. Brilliant day out all round with great venues, great cars on roads made for driving and the best bit was the people, the fun and laughter we had, it's good for the soul. Next weekend is Easter 🐰 so stay posted for which of the 4 day break we are gathering, the route will be carefully chosen to avoid any Bank Holiday traffic x

  13. Do you spend a lot of time tinkering, planning and driving your Westfield? Are you neglecting other hobbies to pursue this? Are you losing track of current affairs as your focus turns to addiction? Do you spend lots of time obsessing over an online community where you delve into other people’s problems, enthuse over pictures and all things technical? Are close family members/friends starting to notice your attention drifting to other things or changing the subject during conversation? If the answer to these questions is yes, YOU 🫵may need help. Attend a safe space with like mind sufferers, where you can talk without judgment or fear. Try the 12 steps process to come to terms with the constant need to expound on all things Westfield. YOU are not alone, OTHERS feel the same. Area owners can you help these conflicted souls before it’s too late.

  18. Non Westfield related…. Hired a decent ladder and cleaned our guttering out. We are right on the A30 in Crewkerne, albeit in a 20mph zone which everyone ignores. Nobody seemed to want to take the job on, so me and the Mrs parked our cars infront of the house early on Sunday morning and I got it done. I’m not a great fan of heights so the knees were knocking a bit, but we had a few comedy moments when trying to manoeuvre the ladder, and I managed to splatter the Mrs with mud dropped from height which fortunately she took on the chin, almost literally 🤣.

  20. One word for today..... WOW!!! Weather was good so the Westie came out to play and I landed at Donington about 945. @Garry Bunn - Derby & Notts Joint AO joined me later as did a few of the Burton Classic Car Club. Wandering up the paddock, I was like a kid in a sweet shop! 20 Classic F1 cars plus loads of 60's and 70's sports cars, from lightweight E-Types to Ferrari, Lola, Porsche, GT40, Mustang etc etc. Some highlights: Special interest to me was this 1982 March 821 driven by Jochen Mass. The very car that Gilles Villeneuve clipped at Zolder in the wet trying to beat Didier Pironi's lap time. My childhood hero died that day colliding with this car, a very strange feeling to see it... One of John Watsons Mclaren's David Purley (March 731 maybe?), immortalised for his selfless and brave attempt to save his friend Roger Williamsom at Zandvoort in 1973 1961 Ferrari 246 SP, I believe this was Ferrari's first mid engined sportscar! 22. Factory built (invoice available) first registered 2003, 5-speed box (LT77 I believe), LSD. Current mileage 12285, MOT (non-cat) due October 2024. Odyssey battery fitted 30/05/22 at 11500 miles (spare available). Just had oil and filter change at 12281 miles (previously at 10068 miles) and new clutch slave cylinder. I believe engine is from a TVR Chimaera and enjoys ACT carbon plenum chamber with enlarged trumpets and ports. Toyo Proxes all round (R888 front, new R888R rear. Rears fitted 14/9/21 at 10982 miles. Three-point inertia-reel seatbelts fitted now (so much easier day-to-day) but I still have the original Sabelt 4-point harnesses. Hood and sidescreens, perspex wind deflectors, Walker St Clair cockpit cover. Lowered floor for the taller driver, underslung rear exit s/steel exhausts, Ctek trickle charger hard-wired to battery. HPI checked at purchase, has been mine since July 2020. Dry use only in my hands (except when caught out in shower on 2 occasions). Reason for sale: I'm 72 now and can no longer take this car to the max. It needs somebody who can exploit it to the full. Glorious noise and I will miss it hugely. I have no hesitation in describing this car as being in excellent condition all-round. Local garage mechanics (who did oil and slave cylinder change last week) described it openly as "up together". Underfloor photos taken today (20/3/24) at their premises. This is a lovely car, lovely noise, masses of torque, that's why I bought it in the first place). Price £13500 o.n.o. 29. With the Speed Series having some local events this year, I had been really keen to make sure we show our support and get some members along to watch. Hopefully, some of our enthusiast spectators will turn into competitors! Amazingly through the day, excluding the guys competing, I counted 8 cars and about 20 members (plus partners, friends and family) spectating. Lee had come across from Lichfield and joined by two new local members Martin and Julian (with partner Clare) in their respective cars. Martin had only joined last night and Julian about 6 weeks ago, really good to meet you 👍 Word had also got out to our friends at Burton Car Club so we also had two Ferrari replicas and a stunning Mclaren 570. A quick 20 min convoy and we landed at Mallory where we were joined by Nick (in his new Striker) and then Dale shortly after. Alex, Hedley and Tony had come in their tintops, and Ben had turned up in the VW Caddy so he could bring his cute grandson Hunter (what a great name! 😂).@Garry Bunn - Derby & Notts Joint AOalso joined us after lunch James's lovely Mazda engined car Del's TR6 Wandering the paddock we bumped into more and more members like Neal and Dave who we hadn't seen since our last Huggys meet. We also met Dan and Del while admiring John Loudon's Force TA. Some more amazing machinery in the paddock 😍 A fantastic day all round, I'm definitely fancying a go at it myself!

  33. Started up for the first time in four months after all the winter tinkering. I had the dash off, heater radiator replaced/ upgraded, wiper motor overhauled, additional gauge installed (Oil temp) and a few other jobs, cosmetic bits done as well. That’s the first time taking on such jobs but I thoroughly enjoyed it, almost as much as driving. Lots of photos taken and drawings made incase it all went wrong. Washed and polished yesterday, just got the oil change to do. It’s still a bit cold in the northern climes but will get out for a blast very soon. Also aiming for some track time at Knockhill this year.

  34. We have a number of the WSCC Speed Series guys in action at Mallory Park on Sunday so we will be going along to spectate and cheer them on! Assuming the weather is kind we will get the cars out and meet at the Ashby de la Zouch KFC/Starbucks services (LE65 1JP) for a 9am departure, aiming to land at Mallory about 930am. If the weather isn't Westfield friendly, we will going in the tin tops 👍 Alternatively, you can just meet us at Mallory. Oh, and spectators are free! If you park overlooking the pit straight you will be able to cross the circuit on foot via the bridge and get into the paddock to see the drivers and cars 👍

  48. No, in fact there is occasional debate in kit car circles whether driving a car with a full helmet on is technically legal at all on the public road. The reality is, in an open top car with no screen at least, I don't think anyone has ever been stopped for wearing a helmet, provided it didn't obstruct their vision. (never actually found a regulation prohibiting it personally, in the UK, anyway. But, if it in anyway hindered vision or "got in the way" of driving, it could possibly contribute to a careless or dangerous driving charge if you were really, really unlucky)
