A huge thank you to @Andy Banks , our freshly retired and illustrious former Chairman, for all your hard work on behalf of the club. You’ve done a top class job in both good times and bad, especially during this worldwide crisis. We also remember your sterling work before that and famously as the man who saved Stoneleigh at short notice and improved it several fold. Well done mate 👍👏 I hope you’ve found the experience to be as enjoyable and rewarding as I did, and I look forward to sharing a few jars, stories and laughs with you at Stoneleigh next year. 🍺🍺 Thanks as well to @John Dolan - Chairman for stepping forward to take on the mantle of Chairman. Loaded onto trailer ready for journey back home, Outside Barony Castle Hotel after great weekend on Lowlands Mystery Tour, over 200 miles covered yesterday, thoroughly recommend this event, hopefully another one next year.

Day 6 updates (sorry for delay, been a busy couple days) we managed to get a bit of final preparation in for our 3peak challenge next week by climbing Ben Nevis.the climb started nice and dry but the top was always covered by cloud. We didn’t stop much on the way up and completed the ascent in 1:58:47 making it up and down in 3hours 45minutes. After a bite to eat, we decided to press on towards Glasgow to try and make our last days travel a little shorter. This involved the road into and out of glencoe so did manage to drive the road that skyfall was filmed on. It was however a very very wet day for driving. We we had a quick stop just outside Glasgow to see family and then headed to the west coast in order to begin our run down the coast and Galloway Forrest on our last day. Thankfully the rain rain subsided by the time it came to setting up camp! min our way up Snow in July! not a great view from the top! another view on the way down once out of the clouds the road from glencoe, I was lucky to drive this whole road so didn’t take any pictures, will sort through go pro footage when I get time and update. Its a great road and some fantastic views of the valley!

What a fantastic day !! 😁🏁.. Great to finally meet everyone and put a face to the many user ids lol .. Thanks to @BigSkyBrad and Diane for arranging such and enjoyable day and showing us so many great runs for the future. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 6 miles short of Peebles when the westie decided it was all too much and got a little hot under the bonnet 🥵.. feel bad I never made it to the Final destination 🤦🏻‍♂️ But thought I best head for home. Someone kindly stopped with a supply of water so got home safe and sound ... only a starter motor down so happy with that 😂.. Hopefully everyone else made it home or at least to a good pub 🍻... I Met up with @Barrie Giles a new member from Bristol with a new to him seight (sounds amazing) for an early Avon gorge run out. The layby in Bristol was lovely, we got going, oooh it looks cloudy. Bit further and its spitting. Well it then got very wet..... i mean really wet, the kind of wet that makes you laugh(or you might cry). When we pulled in for the snaps it had just stopped. By the look on Barries face I'm quite glad I'm was not running a large V8 on 888r 😁. These are the drives you remember though 👍.

Ahhh, we're home, car unpacked, and I'll give the ol' girl a sponge bath and tuck her into bed. Probably wash the car too. Thank you to everyone who made it the day it was - going by the smiles and kind words, everyone enjoyed themselves. I strive to link as many obscure roads together as I can - I like it when people say to me that they didn't know where the hell they were! After lunch, Diane and I had to leg it to the end to meet the first cars arriving, and as we were driving along, we said to each other how we were missing out on the fun and how would we fair as a team on such a run. But the fact that everyone has appreciated our mystery days is reward enough. Although his car is apart at the moment, Rab turned up at the finish to say hi and have a natter as the cars came in.👍 A special thanks to Alan & Helen and Alistair & Helen for making the jaunt north of the border. They weren't given body cavity searches by the border patrol and none of their cattle were stolen or raped by reivers, so they've pioneered the way for 'southeners' for next year! I don't know if Alistair is on the forum, but hopefully his Caterham is an easy fix, better still trade it for a Westfield.😉 We had an almost 100% increase in participants this year, lets make it another 100%+ on top of that next year. Yes, there looks like there will be a next year (Aug), because Gary posted 'watch out for next years event'! Thanks, Gazza, no pressure then!😵 But seriously, the event needs more cars - as I've said before the more cars, the more fun it is, 20-25 cars would do the job nicely. I spoke with the folks at the Barony Castle where we all stayed, and they are more than happy for us to return (they have other car groups stay too), and can put together a DB&B special group rate for us for next year, and dine us in one of their conference spaces. Plus they have a big carpark with cctv in front of the hotel, which is well into the grounds of the estate. But remember, you can just do it as a day run, there's no obligation to stay over. On the drive home, I was already thinking of route options. In January, I'll start a new thread for 2021. Lets make it a real good'un next year.👍

Strange things happen at car meets, small plastic bags of springs and nails appear on the breakfast table, better than the small foil packages we were handed last week! full of homemade flapjack not drugs I might add. Thank you Andrew for helping to fix the windscreen wiper, which thankfully/unbelievably we didn't need today. Breakfast arrived, I tried something a bit different, posh pancakes. Anyway, here we are at The Bull I Thorn, BillyPee came too in the Porsche but he was too posh to park with us, take note @Andy_R, you will have to park with him when you come. Bagpuss has a new camoflaged alternator bracket. Bonnets Off, a must at a car meet, especially off that wonderful Honda lump Next up it was time to motor, away from the tourist hot spots the roads were empty and we barely saw another car on our way to Wetton OTR We arrived at Wetton and parked in our usual spot And then Photo Bomber Bill came with his Porsche, take note again @Andy_R, I don't want any of this naughty behaviour from you! In the cafe there was more naughty behaviour, from me this time, I seem to have become a 'cake magnet' oops Trifle, now where in the world can you buy trifle, mmm it was lovely, mmm it was Glen's too, but he is a good husband and shared a little bit with me. The Invisible Man was first to leave Cool Box Bill admitted that he was calling in at Tagg Lane Dairy on the way home for big tubs of ice cream, now there's a good idea! Andrew and us took a route home through a fairly busy Matlock Bath. The day didn't end there for Glen and I though, we had a new Coolex radiator waiting to be fitted at home. I knew I would drop my Allen Key in that dish of old antifreeze, and blooming heck, I did. Slippy, slimy stuff, tastes horrible too. We ordered a radiator with Epoxy Resin on, the bobbins were from Westfield. The job was soon done After a good burp it was time to take a test drive in that lovely evening sunshine. The ambient temperature was 19 degrees, so still warm, with empty roads I could get some speed going and the temperature stayed at 80 degrees, remarkable don't you think. Thanks to those that came, I hope that those that couldn't make it enjoy the photo's and maybe we will see you next time. @RobH72 that was an epic day yesterday so I am not surprised you couldn't make today but Wales, oh how lovely Wales is, lucky you.

I got to lead a WSCC convoy for the first time, you got to look at the back of another Westie on a WSCC convoy - we need some more days like that one - SOON!

Massive thank to Brad and Diane for yet another superb Mystery Tour. Can’t thank you enough for all the time and effort you put into this event for everyone else’s enjoyment. Organisation was meticulous and pace notes were flawless (can’t say the same for my interpretation of them, should have known the M74 wasn’t likely to have played any part 😳). Loved meeting everyone old and new. Glorious roads and spectacular scenery. Had a fab day. Thanks again. Everyone else, put it in your diary for next year. Hopefully we’ll all be in a better place then.

It's the back road from Bala to Lake Vyrnwy. Takes you east from a little village called Rhos-y-gwaliau (near Bala) to Rhiwargor at the west tip of Vyrnwy. While very narrow, it's stunning 👍

Not so good in Australia apparently

What a fantastic day out, weather was overcast with sunny spells and saw 9 teams plus Brad and Diane who had organised the route for us and to whom we all extend our thanks for making a great day out on roads we wouldn’t normally have ever known about!! To the new members and southern interlopers and the regulars thank you for making the effort to attend and take part . We had one casualty to electrical gremlins at lunch time and we hope your home safe and well and the Caterham’s sorted soon To those who couldn’t make it watch out for next years event and come and have a great time in the Scottish Borders

@LukeW I’ve fitted a tracker which gives these details via a phone app. A £20 special via Amazon with the extra cost of a SIM card. Brilliant little thing. It even sends me a message to tell me the ignition is turned on. There is a report about it and the installation on here under tech talk back in Feb this year. Simple but effective.

The Caterham wasn't alternator issues was it? Never saw any of you on way home, just a lonely ariel atom over Glenshee.... But glad the rain was very sporadic... Copped a few showers through the afternoon Wooler way. 👍

Day 3s shenanigans! Saw us travel from just south of Durness to just outside of sheildaig via advreck Castle, Ullapool for a spot of fish and chips lunch👍🏼 and a short walk uoand around stac polldaih, then onto laide, Poolewe, gairloch, along loch maree to kinlochewe. In all 200 miles ish and some fantastic views. The car was running better without its thermostat so we could enjoy abit of vtec action and get her singing! just before breaking camp in the morning. Advreck Castle! run down toward Ullapool! short walk up and around here, absolutely stunning. We then got wet! But the rewards meant this! just before our decent into torridon area! and finally our camp for the night hands down the worst spot we could have picked, we were swarmed with midges from the off hounded by gale force winds through the night and met with a royal downpour when we woke 😞. However we were still smiling just about.
