  3. My little lad Alex took a shine to this one... Shame its not for sale! My vote for the prettiest interior goes to.... which belonged to this car on our club stand... The attention to detail on all our club cars was absolutely amazing, but for me, this one really stood out. The detailing that has taken place must have been painstaking, all the way down to the twin pinstripes along the length of the car. Apologies for not asking this cars owner for permission to post this pic, hopefully he/she won't mind! The WSCC area once again was the best club display there. Well done to all that organised and took part. I'm proud to be a member of such a fantastic club!

  4. Hi All Westfield Owners, Everyone Westfield Sportscars would like to say a massive thank you for all members who came out and attend the show and came to our stan. It was fantastic to see such support and meeting new and existing customers. Your plot in particular was very impressive. Loved the huge range of cars I put a lot of faces to names, who I have spoken with since the start of the year. Really good chatting about your cars and other topics. I greatly appreciate all the kind words and well wishes I received. Made me feel very welcome. I think it is sad that there has been implied criticism of a competitor in the Speed Series for scoring "too many points", particularly a competitor who I suspect is either a novice or is not very experienced, or maybe has an under developed car for his or her class. The Speed Series is such a friendly championship and this thread on a public forum really doesn't help to attract new novice entrants. The solution should be to make an appeal to the championship organizer, not on an open forum, if a competitor feels that the rules have been wrongly interpreted. Or of course, the other solution is to get out on track and score maximum points one'self rather than moaning about what someone else has scored. Just my feelings on this matter.

  6. Well said Stephen These guy's should be supported for turning out! I am sure they will have done there best to get near to the target times! Look at the fight I had with Mark B at Wiscombe 2 weels ago! I was out in the cold at MIRA on Sat and everyone was querying what had happened to the times on the day!" No one esle turned up at Angelsey to give it a go so well done to the 2 that did ! Glutey

I've recently discovered the live location feature in Whatsapp and tested it last weekend on a blat into the peaks led by @Julie Hall - AO Representative, Peak District AO (as she'd whimped out and chose a Mazda for the drive, I had time to play). I was second place in the convoy and @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretary was towards the rear in his 'Hill Billy Monster Truck'. Dave and I started a Whatsapp chat before the run and both enable share live location with each other (you can chose a time period to suit from 15 mins to 8 Hours (you can cancel it later, if you don't what to be followed home!). The screen shots below are from an Iphone though I'm sure an Android phone would be similar: Then select 'Share live location' Any of the people in the chat (can be two people or higher), can then click on the live location link they will receive and a map will show their location and the others in the chat. Here's a typical screen shot showing Me and Dave a few hundred metres behind. The map will scroll as you drive based on which ever circle you clicked on. Here's a video of us driving through a couple of roundabouts in Ashbourne Here's anothe video where Dave's car is in focus and the map scrolls to keep him in view. Have a play with it (obviously safely and with the phone fixed to the car)! I think it will really help the lead car see where are the others are and also allow any that get lost/seperated to catch up. It doesn't use lots of data but does need a phone signal to work, which isn't guaranteeed UK wide and a in lot of the Peaks!

  12. Hello from Cognac France, My name is Jean-Pierre, I live near Cognac and have two Westfield : the first one is a 1986 Westfield Seven the other one is a 1987 Westfield Seven SE. Both are Crossflow powered. I bought them from a dealer in UK, but had no history at all, and I hope I will find some help on the forum. Both cars now French registered were very well finished and maintained. I am not familiar with forums, so I hope I didn't fail introducing me.

  13. Hello all. Just a post to make myself known. A bit of a petrolhead for the last 55 years I am so very lucky to have been able to indulge in many sports cars over the years. Mostly my own - but a few I managed to persuade various companies to buy as a company car! Mainly during the indulgent 80s! I had a Westfield in 1989-92 a 1700 big valve xflow SE. I had this car race prepped for Hillclimbs and sprints .... Prescott, Loton, Harwood,Curborough etc. Bitten by this bug I then went single seater for three seasons in a 500cc and then an 1100cc Jedi. Wonderful times - but I overdid the meetings and my wife gave me an ultimatum ..itโ€™s me or the car. What a close call that was!! I then rode bikes for very many years - a stable of fast road right through to vintage! This led me to a Morgan 3 - modern version. Another dream come true - but sadly this car was launched with little development and proved to be a disaster! But the Morganโ€™s link persisted and I had a few four wheelers. Now back full circle to the idea of a Westfield. It was great to see so many at last weekends Stoneleigh show. Very impressed with the current build quality of the cars on display. So...what to buy? Now at 70 my thinking is a moderate powered car. For touring, club meets/ tours/ events/local runs. So, 2l Zetec? My budget is ยฃ10-12k and am hoping to get a nice car for this. I am a fussy ###@&*** so must be a car in excellent condition. Any advice, thoughts , guidance would be welcome. cheers and thanks for reading - if you got this far! Neil:)))) ps I live in S Warks

  14. I remember when this used to be fun!! Come on guys, support and applaud the guys who turned up, the effort and commitment to travel, remember that those who make the rules do so with vast experience, in a voluntary capacity, to the best of their ability and with everybody's best interests at heart!! NO set of rules will ever suit all of the people all of the time so please try and respect what the ssot have achieved and continue to work hard to improve. And to go back to the point Steve made in his original comments, get out there and improve your personal times/targets. We all started somewhere, so.e people will end up being very quick, some won't. We cant all be superstars!! Rich

  16. Mark, I will give this some thought, but off the top of my head the first thing I would do is remove the ambiguity around the โ€œconditionsโ€. Although Terry states in his post that โ€œThe rule was changed from "WET DAY" to the wording above a few years ago as it was hard to determine whether Rain was the same as Damp. Cold tracks/tarmac have always been a problem.โ€ , it seems some still have their own interpretation as to why it is there. Something along the lines of: If the environmental conditions at a round are such that 61% or more of the Westfield car classesโ€™ entry have times......?? The validity of the decision to then invoke the rule on these grounds could also be ratified, should it be considered necessary, by checking the delta of competitors other than WSCC entrants as I did in my previous post. This would of course involve someone's time to arrive at a decision whether to invoke the rule or not, but it could be time well spent. Tony

  18. Yes it happened before and I already highlited the oddness of it... I scored maximum points in mira once in a bone dry day... 2016 barbon (where i whithdraw my entry last minute) again happened the same... Is not the first time. It may seem, however, that is the first time that someone pays attention to it. None at all Alex. I was just kidding making reference to some of the comments in the earlier posts.

So, you are clearly maintaining the assertion that the times of someone who has never driven the track before and a competitor that is having clutch problems should invoke the โ€œconditionsโ€ that make this rule applicable? Absolutely ridiculous. We all have issues at meetings and generally everybody tries to help out, but this rule is clearly (although, perhaps not to some) meant to apply to the track conditions regarding whether wet or hazardous, etc., that would effect all of the competitors, NOT the individuals "personal reasons" for going slower than the TTs.

  22. Still seems unfair when a few weeks ago, at my first speed series weekend and first events at Anglesey, I pushed myself and car hard enough to beat the Longton class record, but could of scored more points last weekend in the same CONDITIONS by going slower.

  23. Tony, Rule 1.6.(d) makes no reference to the TRACK (my emphasis) just to CONDITIONS. If only 2 competitors chose to turn up to a round of the championship then so be it. If one (or both) happen to be novices, or in uncompetitive cars, that is the conditions under which they run.

  29. I'm sorry Terry, but this rule is clearly intended to make adjustments to the target time when the track conditions are not "ideal". There was clearly nothing untoward about the track that impacted on the times recorded, and it should therefore not be applied in this case. Tony

  30. As I am deemed to be 'really slow' above I thought I would add my 2 pennyworth. I travelled 10 hours each way to compete in this event, my first sprint, my first time at Angelsey. I was very disappointed that only myself and Mark had turned up, I did think when entering there would be more WSCC competitors given the weather would be more likely to be better than in April. As it was Mark and I had a good time mixing with a few other 7's. even the scrutineers were friendly and helpful! The conditions were damp in the morning indeed before one of the runs it was raining though as Adam has (without the courtesy of asking) lifted videos from my facebook page you can see it was cold but sunny thereafter. Turning to the gripes about the scoring system, quite frankly I knew nothing about the consequences of 1.6d/e, Mark had a few clutch issues and I was just a crap driver. I was aware of target times and my observation is that maybe these need looking at particularly if they were set with more race orientated tyres. For the record my car is a completely standard 1300 Busa and run on 1b tyres. My objective was to improve my PERSONAL times throughout each day, which I achieved so was quite happy. As it was I came away with 2 class wins and best novice driver overall. Thanks for the welcome to your Series

  32. I was speaking to Julian Turner during the hog roast fest at the weekend and the Westfield drift cars hold the world record for the most 'donuts' performed by a vehicle ,an amazing statistic for the little car

  36. On the way to Stoneleigh yesterday! Binding front left caliper. Auto Aid wanted to send us back to Glasgow. B&B where we are staying said that one of their guests was going to the show and had a car full of tools and was happy to help, so Auto Aid transported us there. Working by cellphone torchlight we got it sorted - the Westie will go to the ball (and hopefully get back to Glasgow for a brake strip down)!
