  1. Here I am, 3 years after being widowed following a horrific road accident in Scotland 05-09-2015, the proud owner of my late husband's hand built Westfield 7 SE. It gives me a lot of pleasure to drive and I shall be out and about meeting people and going to my local group. Having been a biker most of my life it sure brings a smile to my face. Happy days. PS Here are some photos, she has a 1600 ford crossflow engine, bored out to 1700. Brian planned to put a ztech engine in but that was never done. She had a Ford Escort donor car and very little money was spent at the time (two small kids and a nagging wife!). I might upgrade a few things... As you can see I am possibly not the most conventional owner, if there even is such a thing. My two dogs love it. Currently, following the wipe out of my Volvo by a drunk driver. The Wez is my only car - plus a motor home. I am just back from a three month road trip of Europe to get over the death of Brian. So I have two vehicles, one extreme to the other!

  3. I read this yesterday and was moved and impressed in equal measure by your sad story and dogged determination respectively. Very few people would carry on with such strength and vigour as you have. I am truly in awe because I doubt that I could have responded like that. I'd like to say well done but it sounds SO patronising so just know I'm deeply impressed! Like yours, mine has swept wings too - the only true style!

  4. On Saturday, 11th August it is the Curborough Breakfast Meet at Curborough Sprint Course, Lichfield, WS13 8EJ. Breakfast is served from 8.30 until 12. The plan for us is to get there mid-morning, have a nosey and see what's on the track and down in the paddocks, before heading up to the Okeover Arms, Ashbourne for lunch. It is a 45 minute drive to the Okeover Arms, it is a straight road with average 50 mph speed cameras on, so don't expect the excitement of last weekends shenanigans. If you want some wiggling around the Peak District we can make it happen afterwards. If it rains, just stay in bed and do some indoorsy things. Anyone joining us?

  5. The other night I was invited out for a night with "the lads." I told my wife that I would be home by midnight, "I promise!" Well, the hours passed and the beer was going down way too easy. Around 3 a.m., drunk as a skunk, I headed for home. Just as I got in the door, the cuckoo clock in the hall started up & Cuckooed 3 times. Quickly, realizing she'd probably wake up, I cuckooed another 9 times. I was really proud of myself for coming up with such a quick-witted solution (even when smashed), in order to escape a possible conflict with her. The next morning my wife asked me what time I got in, & I told her 12:00. She didn't seem disturbed at all. Whew! Got away with that one! Then she said, - "We need a new cuckoo clock." When I asked her why, she said, "Well, last night our clock cuckooed three times, then said, "Oh *****," cuckooed 4 more times, cleared its throat, cuckooed another 3 times, giggled, cuckooed twice more, and then tripped over the cat and farted....

  6. Fuel tank pressure equalising? Could mean that the tank vent isn't working properly as I thought they were meant to prevent that?

  9. Wow @Trevturtle, you kept that one quiet! what a lovely surprise, a video of the day. I am amazed at just how quiet the roads were, plus it makes a great vid when we all stayed in convoy all the time. It is interesting to see the view from car number 9 and how far behind you can be when you get delayed at a junction, it is good to see that it works when I hold the cars at a T junction and it allows everyone to re-gather. Crowdecote at 15:40 has took well on film, I am feeling travel sick watching that back Thanks for letting me see the views, and for all your hard work, that must have taken some time to put together

  10. Front brake upgrade complete. The pedal is absolutely rock hard with the engine off but a bit spongy with the engine running. System has been bled several times including a software/ecu forced ABS pump purge/bleed. Hopefully it is a bit soft as the pads need bedding in. Also the fact the caliper piston is slightly larger will no doubt be contributing to this I guess?

  12. Agree with Gary, sounds like tank equalisation. And as Gary says check the tank vent is working, and if you also want to prove it remove the filler cap and see if you get a suction whoosh. If so that'll confirm you have a tank vent issue.

  13. Almost 100% sure it will be this. Next time you've driven it, open the fuel cap. If you hear air rushing, you've found your issue. It needs to be able to 'breathe'

  15. Don’t put the toll money in your trouser pocket if you have full harness seat belts. Wait on the left after the toll booth for others to join. Then let the fun begin.

  18. Many thanks to all ... I have carried out further checks and Found that the top rails are also cracked... I have decided to send the car back to the factory where a full and thorough check can be made and any necessary repairs carried out.

  19. I took my Westfield for MOT on Friday, the tester who always does it said "not using it much are you". It was then he pointed out it was last tested in 2015, so last drive was a trackday in the August of that year. In my defence I lost both my parents one after the other and then my Father in Law in January of this year, all were ill for a long time, so it was not top of my list. So today went out in it for a run out and after first 10 or so miles I was thinking how hard it was, how windy how every bump felt like hitting a kerb and then... the road opened and I suddenly remembered why I love these so much. Ice cream stop with obligatory question from people, although one woman asked if it was a "TT" then coffee stop. A great day. Trackday booked for the 18th, happy days

  20. I've found that if I creep in after a night out, trying my best not to wake SWMBO, generally a "conversation" will ensue no matter what the hour or the capacity of alcohol riddled brain. However, if I crash through the door, stomp up the stairs and exalt loudly "you're in for a good time tonight darlin'", invariably she'll pretend to be asleep...
