  1. We all love a happy end... and here is mine! Just a few tweaks, MOT and a rolling road session at NMS next month... Bring on Spring!

  2. Had a brilliant day today. Weather was glorious and it was nice to leave home not wearing a coat. Met with Dave and we headed for coffee at Hornsea Mere. I thought my luck was in again, as outside the shop there was a sign that said Beaver. Took a few minutes for me to realise it was the name of the boat. Next step was over to Malc's for coffee and we where made to feel most welcome. Di, sorry for the mess and damage but Malc said he would clean it up for us . Next stop was Spurn Point. Spotted sneaky policemen hiding on a long bend near the gas plants but we where good lads so no need to stop us. It was amazing how many wind turbines there are on the land but also in the sea. We wanted to drive right to the tip of Spurn but they have now stopped vehicles driving to the end as the road is washed away in parts. Dinner was at the local pub where we had magnificent views across the Humber and the Humber Forts. Thanks for the day Dave and also to Malc for the great hospitality.

  3. Firstly, to the people that couldn't make today, I hope everything works out ok. We met at McD's, that is Ian in his Honda and Ian in his Honda - it was going to be one of those days, Martyn and Sue, Andrew and Clare, Matt and us. Paul came in his GT86 and the very cute mini cake muncher came too, namely Charlotte. The 'power shot' 2 Honda's and a V8 But the Fords look the best, well I might be biased here! After a quick brew we went the whole 2 miles to GBS and parked up The Honda boys, the two Ian's, well they have a lot to smile about don't they? Martyn, well trained, cleaning his windows. Note Ian's VX in the background. Martyn, I am still laughing, visualising your french student who is living in the North East of England, Bonjour Pet! Let the cake munching begin. I had the Victoria Sponge, the fruity cake at the back and one of the eggy chocolatey buns, all homemade by the lovely GBS ladies. More and more cars turned up, and people too, BugMan Steve, Barry and Andrew, Ian and Rosie and Johnno. It got really busy and it was great, I was glad we went but we had to leave early as we had a holiday to go on. But we will be home next Saturday and hope to be out on Easter Sunday or Bank Holiday Monday, depending on the weather, it is a bit scary that the Malton Big Breakfast is cancelled, just how much snow is on our way? Note the drone in this photo Thank you to everyone for coming along today.

  7. It does appear to have a D+ terminal, however. That would normally be connected to ignition switched 12V via the warning light. Without this, many alternators won't self-excite. No experience with this particular beast, but might be worth connecting up a bulb to that terminal just to see if it springs into life.

  8. Good luck for July - I 'need' to go back and do the whole pass, the other side looks awesome, maybe next year. I'll be at the Le Mans Classic and will be mounting a camera low on the nose for the parade laps, your video really replicates the sensation when driving.

  9. Love the camera view @kenton. Where have you mounted your camera and what with.

  10. Got my timing strut made today. also fitted a 1 litre catch tank. Apart from a “tow” sticker on the cage I reckon the car is nearly ready. Pity I can’t actually make any meetings before Blyton in May though

  13. Do you mean the 'beautification cover'? Apart from looking pretty, they dramatically reduce the radiated noise from the top of the engine from cams/injectors/pump etc.

  14. If you think rationally about this, all mass-produced cars are designed to be assembled, maintained and repaired as reliably and quickly as possible to hopefully make profit for the manufacturer. Unfortunately that often means special tools or unusual sizes - but to suggest it's done deliberately to frustrate a home mechanic is fairly ludicrous - even though it often feels that way...

  16. Absolutely, quite a few of us in the area are usually up for a run, (more as we get the better weather and the salt disappears from the roads, but there’s always some of us around!)

  17. Thanks everyone, what a very friendly bunch! I'm spending part of today clearing out my garage in anticipation of the cars arrival. Very excited! @Mark Redpath - WSCC Membership Secretary Thanks Mark! I've sent you a text. Definitely up for meeting up. Small world! @1960dave Ha, yes mate I had been lurking for a while since we first started talking about the car a month or so ago but now it's official I decided to sign up properly and get involved. Can't wait to get my hands on it! @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretary Thanks, Dave told me he'd been passed the plaque form someone in club. It really goes well on the car! I'll see what I can do on the deals front, Dave is referring to my time as a moderator/committee member for the MR2 Roadster Owners Club (where he and I met). I used to sort out their annual event at Demon Tweeks for a couple of years and in the process managed to get a few discount/bulk deals from them and various other companies for members/charity raffles/etc... If I can do anything in the future for club members here then I certainly will! Maybe see you around the back roads of Cheshire sometime as I said to Dave we'll have to meet up for a run.

  18. So lets get this right Lyonspride. You don't have the right tools and it's Fords fault because they are idiots? Really?

  19. It sound about right, you might need to re-adjust the belt after a few runs as the belt could stretch. I have heard of people over tighten the belt to allow for that but if it don’t stretch then your over stressing the bearing in thing like the alternator.

  21. Use this calculator shows how the new wheels will sit compared to the old ones, I find it very useful gives difference in measurements and graphical format also calculates how it will affect the odometer reading. Will They Fit

  23. Hi, Jon, That takes me back to the 11th September 2001 - 9/11. When the attacks were made on the twin towers in New York all those years ago, I was out marshalling on the MSA Euroclassic Run and, after pounding my Vauxhall Vectra 2.2 up the Stelvio, I was told about the world changing news as I pulled in for a coffee at the stop of the pass. 29. Welcome! Glad to see Dave’s car hasn’t gone too far, (Dave is one of the Cheshire Area crew). It was me that passed on the little build plaque for the car, from a chap that found it hidden away in the garage of a house he’d recently bought! Have fun with the car, it’s a real looker and a classic Westfield spec.
