  1. Great idea, we should give this some thought.

  2. Sorry but I enjoyed 65% of it. I’m really enjoying grown men driving fast cars and having a great time without reducing themselves to seven-year old abusive swearing imbeciles on speed pushing forced patronising twaddle like Clarkson & Co. I remember the last few years of the old Top Gear and they were idiotic and dreadful. The 35% I didn’t like was all Rob Brydon. Can’t stand him, loves the sound of his own voice, even during his own lap! Utter prat.

  3. Selling my Harris crossflow. Engine is currently in my car so can be seen running and won’t be removed until sold or at least I’ve taken a deposit. Call this a gauging interest ad if you like but I am serious about selling but it won’t go for peanuts I’d rather keep it. The engine has covered 1,500 road miles (this is backed up by invoice dates and Mot’s) and three Trackdays. It’s a serious engine that could be used for racing or for a fast road car. Been dyno’d at about 160/170hp allowing for dyno differences! Very strong and pulls like a train. Spec: accrolite 83.5mm forged flat top pistons forged lotus rods arp conrod bolts arp flywheel bolts arp head stud kit vandervell could competition bearings 12:1 compression ratio duplex vernier cam sprocket kit kent 244 cam h&h electronic ignition high pressure oil pump chambered head/ stage 3 big valve Titan roller rocker kit ported and matched inlet manifold tony law manifold fabricated in situ to give exact header lengths lightened and balanced conrods, crank, flywheel and clutch cover double dowel flywheel dry sump, thermostatically opening mocal cooler The car is currently fitted with a Quaife 4 speed clubmans box with a rs2000 bellhousing. Straight cut 1,2,3 helical 4th. This can be sold with the engine as a job lot or maybe separate if engine sells first £3750 £3150 without box

  4. Following a successful (if chilly) breakfast run at the weekend, the plan is to make this a regular event on the fourth Sunday of the month. Start points and destinations will vary. The Monthly Meet remains on the second Sunday. As soon as the evenings pull out, I will also organise a mid-week blat during the intermediate weeks. Additionally, everyone is free to post up here, and via the whatsapp group, for any other planned or spontaneous get togethers. From the March meet on, I will be at the McDonalds at Boreham at 10.30am, to lead anyone interested on a country route to the Lodge. Ken (The Shallow Ford Man) Paton will be making similar arrangements for the guys coming in from the south side of Chelmsford. Under the prevailing conditions, six was a reasonable turnout yesterday. Let's get into a rhythm and put some road miles on these cars!

  7. Average at best. Best bit was Harris getting battered in the chain car racing. The rest was a bit yawn. Will still watch it tho as the rest of the telly is crap.

  8. The asking price is £4,250 MORE than the basic price of a new factory built Sport 250, and over £8,000 more than the new price of a complete kit for home construction. As Dave has said, the options don't really add a lot to the VALUE (note value, not price) because the options and extras which one man would find desirable aren't necessarily the ones another person would want. Now I really don't like it when people say that a particular Westfield is overpriced, because it does tend to down-value all out cars, but in this particular case, you do have to wonder. Maybe someone with a deep pocket and wanting a car like that should offer them, say, £30k and maybe they could get a bargain?

  9. I noticed on the Chris Evans show this morning there was not a single mention of TG being back on. Strange that!!!

  10. Thanks for the replies and the references for Procomp. Julian, my driver, has someone lined up to work on a standard box and give us a gearbox tailored to the car). Despite the historic rally rules, there are quite a few choices commonly used. Hence the request for a standard box as a "blank canvas". Simon

  11. ...and of course, when it comes to spending that sort of money on a fun car, you have an awful lot of options these days, including some toys from the big names.

  12. That’s the problem when you spec the most expensive model up with a set of expensive options. Don’t forget, it’s an al” new power train, too. the problem is when buy8ng it as a new car, you’re expected to buy the options, whereas on a second hand car further down the line, I’m afraid to say while many of those options might make a car more desirable, not many actually add much physical value to the price, and I’m not sure if any optional upgrade really adds the its own value to the base price of the car.

  13. Yes, yes, Billy and Dave, and all the others, I can't wait for you all to be back with us. You should see the road we have been on today. It goes to nowhere, obviously, it's empty too, but it has been closed due to a landslip for well over a year. It has finally been opened and the views, oh my, but the best bit is that it finishes at The Millstone Country Inn, if you remember we had a rather yummy Sunday carvery there. We might have to wait until there is some extra cow poop on it though because it was a bit too clean today Now stop reading this and get working on those cars
