  1. Thanks for all the hard work crunching numbers and gravel traps this year Tigger! As has been said, couldn't have a championship without dedicated members such as yourself Congratulations to John on securing his second over all championship! 0.06s on the penultimate run of the year, fair play for getting the job done under that pressure, but what a git! Happy it has gone to someone who has scored decent points by beating many of their own target times from previous seasons. Congratulations to AdamR for securing the mini championship again, this time in a relatively standard car and at best on 1B tyres, sometimes on 1A 'Eco' tyres, and with the minimum of stress possible! A brave man to trust me with his car at an event where points were required. Just be grateful those corner markers are polystyrene, not the concrete I thought they were for the first few events when I started sprinting! As for Steve, well, I am quite sure he has put in more hours and effort rectifying bad luck than any other competitor in the championship! To get the car turned around at such short notice and with such major repairs (new engines, new front end of a chassis (!!!!)) but still have the enthusiasm and energy to get out and keep chasing and beating target times...blimey. True grit and determination! Congratulations to all the class winners but also to those who beat PBs, achieved personal goals or just generally had fun and enjoyed the Speed Series! It's genuinely hard to imagine competing in sprints and hillclimbs being as much fun if I wasn't part of the WSCC. If people weren't as friendly and helpful I'd have probably b*******ed off and bought a single seater by now, the cheating way to go faster!

  2. ... well that ended with a very close thing dind't it, who'd of thought eh? I'd like to congratulate John Hoyle for winning the Speed Series (Expert) for the 2nd time, and to Steve Carpenter for the Novice Championship, well done both, and to David, really sorry, nothing more you could have done, it was soooo close. I myself came in at a Strong 18th place (that's where it's at I've heard) but hope to do much better next year so Mr Skidmorre, watch out The final results are linked below - Please note: If you have any queries/questions or challenges, please can you register them within the next 48 hours. After that these scores will be final. 3. Cheers Dave, thank you for entertaining all the spectator's this year with some pretty awesome drives. Hope your engine is not too bad, not sure you will find one like that on ebay! Thank you every one that has made us so welcome in the championship, talking to other drivers the Westfield championship does seem to be the best organised, friendliest and most competitive series. So looking forward to the awards do and doing it all again next year!

  6. I spot a new game, though it might have to be next season now! Photos of Mr Puss in the frame wit Ian's car, without Ian knowing about it! Extra points if you can get Ian in shot too, still without being aware of the cat!! Edit to add: Blatant Photoshop doesn't count; has to be the old fashioned way...

  7. My title sounds like we are following a bus route, but I can assure you that there are no buses where we are going. Meet at Halfords, Ashbourne, 10.30am on SUNDAY 21st October. From there we travel North-ish, for 1 hour and 15 minutes, to our lunch stop at midday. After lunch we travel, sort of South-ish for 30 minutes, to the cake stop. It all finishes at the cake stop, which is halfway between Ashbourne and Buxton, at around 3pm, depending on how much chatter there is. This signals the end of all the car related events as we settle back in to making our own merriment in the Peak District. It may be moved to Sunday if the weather is better. IT HAS MOVED TO SUNDAY Anyone coming along?

  8. It all depends on what you measure, what you measure against and what you are trying to prove. We are bombarded with what are the biggest polluters and it is true that the 15 biggest ships in the world pollute more than all the cars we have at present, if you measure one type of emission. Cars are easier to target than planes and shipping so they are the obvious targets but they are not the worst at all. If you measure energy used in producing and shipping clothing it is the largest polluter. Regulations are there to be passed by the manufacturers, they do that but the real world is different hence they never reach those figures claimed. Green activists convinced politicians that Co2 was the evil to beat and diesel was they way disregarding advice over NOx. Fast forward to now and only electric will do, ignoring the devastation mining lithium for batteries creates and cities around the world calmer to be greenest and to tax diesels off the road. Tomorrow they will discover electric is a problem but all the time some will get rich on the back of it and we will have to pay one way or another.

  9. Oh crumbs, I think there might be another storm on the way and, for this route, I need dry roads because it's a curly one. I can always swap to plan B/go Sunday/postpone for a week. Let's see what happens.

  10. Well, after 56hrs , no response from the service department or the chap who sent me the letter, so , I have a month, I'll move up the chain. Anyone know a contact at Skoda HQ ? Its amazing what I will do with no car building or tinkering needed, to pass the dark evenings..........

  11. Congratulations to all class winners and in particular John Hoyle and Dave Cleaver who took it down to the last but one run of the season. Very tough on Dave who drove out of his skin all year and gathered utter admiration from those who noticed his times. John also drove fantastically but almost went under the radar. My class G battle with Terry went right down to the last run of the championship where he beat me by 0.23 points from a possible 1010. I wouldn't like to calculate what 0.23 points is on a lap of the International circuit at Anglesey given it take as around 89 seconds but it would be pretty minute in time terms. Well done Terry. Terrific battle. See everyone at the awards

  17. Custom roll bars aside, yes a standard hood just fits over a regular RAC bar, but there are complications. Rather than fill up a sales thread, if you want to know more details, can you pop a post up in Tech Talk, and we'll try and answer it for you!
