I too have no problem with people owning guns and getting youngsters involved, however. I cannot see the sense in having machine guns allowed to anyone except armed forces or law enforcement. Hunting with a shotgun or rifle then fine but hunting with a machine gun? I also agree that the way the ban on hand guns was done was shameful. Law abiding citizens were treated like criminals, businesses went to the wall because of the actions of a lunatic or two. Once the bandwagon was rolling led by hysteria it was inevitable the government would take the popular line, pity they do not do that on important issues. As I said in my first post Americans do see disconnected from reality when it comes to guns and regardless on how the instructor behaved a small child with an uzi on fully automatic is insane.

Not too much to report as I've been busy building walls again but I did manage to re-fit the fuel tank and some of that rather large fuel pipe from the new filler neck down to the tank. Here's the new filler neck, aluminium and locking. That's an improvement over the push-in type that it came with. I know the tank is tiny and the amount of fuel small but I still don't fancy having it syphoned when I'm not looking! I'd forgotten how soft the fibreglass is when a file is taken to it but I managed to enlarge the mounting hole to a nice round shape without over doing it. The housing fits very nicely and tightened down well. Now though, as I'd fitted the new pipe (as above), the much straighter route that this takes over the previous one which was mutli-part and badly kinked, the boot box hits it! Grrr. A modification to the boot box will be made to allow for this at some point.

The worst and most blatant bit of 'turning in' will always be the Schumacher/Hill 'accident' that cost Hill the title. Don't think that would wash these days. Like Monaco, only one person really knows the truth, and he ain't talking!

Hahaha, we all know how kids read those signs...... "Place sticky/chocolatey fingers here" Same as how certain parcel couriers (who shall not be named) read "football" instead of "fragile".

Absolutely nothing wrong with children experiencing and participating in the sport of shooting. The mistake lies with the instructor, (who I believe was an army veteran and should have known his stuff) As a firearms instructor many years ago, it's my opinion he was stood in the wrong place, he should have behind her, to the right (the recoil was bound to allow the gun to sway to the left). Even on fully auto, he shouldn't have had more than a few rounds in the mag. A fatal mistake and a very sad outcome, im afraid. Some people just don't understand, and the very saying 'guns don't kill people, it's the people that do' is very, very true. The whole outrage of kids shouldn't use guns is just crazy, taught well and educated correctly there isn't a problem. A quick google search finds plenty of sad stories about children hurt or killed on karts or motorised vehicles, that doesn't bring the same amount of outrage...
