New Stoneleigh Show 2026- The Replica and self build Festival
Steve G. replied to Steve G.'s topic in The Start Line
I don't understand either to be honest. The last few times I have been to Stoneleigh for Race Retro I haven't been impressed, the rail link has just messed things up and it's hard work getting in. I wonder if the organisers are trying to run things in such a way it's more attractive for traders to go along. I'm guessing they haven't been talking to car clubs so perhaps it's just a trade show. -

Some screen shots would have helped! π I've found this- https://www.totalkitcar.com/2025/07/10/exciting-news-brand-new-show-for-2026-announced/ Doesn't make sense to me. The Malvern show is shrinking and setting up rival shows isn't going to help the situation. Despite having to travel further to Malvern than Stoneleigh, it's a better show ground. Holding this show at the start of the summer school hols could reduce likely attendance too. - Today

That's a really good idea. At the moment I'm quite keen to buy something from Andrew at ToyBox cars in Lount. I'm guessing ToyBox is quite well known in this group? I do have a plan for buying from a private seller as well. The guy I use for transporting cars up and down the country is a retired mechanic. I've used him a number of times now, and I'm hoping that if I ask him nicely he'll do an inspection for me too.

I spotted some posts on FB about a new kit car show at Stoneleigh next year. Seems a bit odd to put on another one when the Newark show has been cancelled. -

I have 205/60x13 all round, Toyo R888R, car rides amazingly well and the grip is pretty phenomenal.

What brilliant weather we all enjoyed. Just the right temperature and warm late into the evening allowing a no jumper drive home. Good variety of cars and excellent pizzas. Great to see @Chris Emm, @Jakejmagee and the return of @MattV in the aptly named βJaffaβ. Ant Gilbert has swapped his Westy for a python green Cayman 718 GTS 4.0 - stunning and also quite clean π. Photos below are from Ant and Iβll post more when @Jakejmagee posts on FB and I can copy them! Some of my photos - - Yesterday

Dick Mayo Sprint Castle Combe 26th July 2025
djm posted a topic in 7s Speed Series / Hill Climbing / Racing
Is the Dick Mayo Sprint at Castle Combe on Saturday 26th July 2025 still a round of the Speed Series? As Bristol Motor Club who are running the event do not show the Speed Series in the list of championship rounds for the event. -
I bought this as a donor for one of the MX5 based kitcars , quantum,mk,gbs evocet, Tipo184 but a medical problem means I an unable to continue possibly for up to a year so I have had to change my plans. The car is a 1998 (first reg 29/5/98) 1.8 5 speed and has done 36.000 miles (parked up with a starting fault for several yrs . new fuel pump fixed it ) and is a low spec car so no aircon ,abs , electric mirrors so much easier to strip down for kit car use . three keys and matching ecu/immobiliser . A few parts not used in Kitcars have been sold ( lights, trim pieces radio, speakers) there are a set of fox alloys and a space saver tyre included more pictures available V5C in my name showing 2 previous owners Car is in north cardiff Β£800 or open to offers

I made mine out of this - 1mm carbon fibre sheet Here's my template. check for size in paper first. Carbon fibre roll cage foot cover.pdf Cut with a Dremel and stuck to the fibreglass with 3M VHB Tape. Make sure you put masking tape around the roll bar when test fitting the item as the carbon fibre edges can scratch (don't ask how I know). Make the slit with a fine hack saw blade.

I think there maybe a mofast designed 3d print file on here somewhere.
-
Or maybe it's a good item to be 3D printed?

If it's just to tidy up the gap where the bar goes through the tub, would something like this do? https://www.easycomposites.co.uk/high-strength-carbon-fibre-sheet

I see what you mean! Crazy prices for such a small item. I will ask someone I know if they can make some in carbon.
