I may now have to rethink this project. Having decided on a JPS inspired theme of a gloss black car with gold (well, copper) decals, I had a possible design drawn up. But the cost has come in at approximately £3400 inc. Vat - which is too much for a project being done just for a bit of fun. Perhaps naively, and based on nothing in particular, I had thought it might have been around half that, given the diminutive size of the vehicle. Oh well. So, plan B, look at having it painted, and probably stick to a gloss dark green. Anyone have a ball-park idea of the cost to paint a Westy?

As long as the weather and health hold up – gotta keep doing it! It’s not gonna last forever… But while you can – just go for it! This clip’s actually 2× speed,:) but it still shows what’s I felt and what is awesome about kit cars – it’s not about the km/h, it’s all about the feeling. But I am sure You know that ! Way more intense than in any regular production fancy car!

I watched it on YouTube earlier, looks almost like your own personal hillclimb! Just makes me want to get the car out that does 👍

Thanks for that. This was me experimenting this summer with a slightly cranked lever: It's hard to see from the angle but it does tuck under the dash a bit. With the size of the Westfield remote I do seem to have to choose between under the dash or reaching back a bit, at least with the lever with the amount of crank that I had. When the weather improves I'll experiment a bit more 😁

Type 9 Gear lever extension
Trevor Little (Trevturtle) replied to Ricky_B Joint Kent AO's topic in Parts Wanted
The Type 9 gear lever was bent as close to the bottom as possible. (Oxy acetylene heated to cherry red, then bent) Then the shaft was shortened and re-threaded. It has been used for a number of years. No problems at all. I made a jig to clamp the lower end of the gear lever in a vice. That 1. Avoid damaging the bottom end of the lever. 2. Controlled where the bend starts, e.g. not too low. The car is a wide body 2L Zetec, with an initially MT75 gearbox, but it was later converted to a Type 9. -

Couple of questions, what's the wood in front of the radiator for? And don't you find dust sheets, curtains etc can get damp and cause issues? I threw a pair of curtains out recently damn it! I just usually use a good breathable car cover. -

Very impressive! I’ve been trying to do a brief attempt at an owners/workshop manual for the Midlana. Very difficult to find the motivation tbh. Done about 20 pages so far.
