June 2015

June 4th, 2015 Spend: £3.17   First the fuse had blown on the starter button (my own design, so my own fault), then for further humiliation I had to pay £3.17 for an assortment of replacement fuses and even then the car would just about start again. Later at home discarded the fuse on the starter and it shows all the signs of a starter that is on the way out.   June 7th, 2015 Spend: £0   Put the car on stands to have a good look at the starter in case I ne

May 2015

May 3rd, 2015 Sold: £75.50   The annual kit car show at Stoneleigh! Packed the car with stuff that I no longer have a use for and after some creative use of straps it is surprising the amount of stuff you can take with you     But, the great English weather being what it is, changed for the worst and although we've had lovely weather in the weeks leading to it, the day starts off with heavy rain     It dried up on the way in and by the t

April 2015

April 8th, 2015 Spend: £0     The day of the dreaded MOT. I say dreaded, because it is the first one in my ownership, and who knows what kind of relationship the previous owner had with his MOT guy. Thankfully it passed, with some recommendations on things that should really be sorted out when I get the chance:   - Leaking gearbox (small drop, but still) - OSR axle leaking grease (needs new halfshafts/seals) - Front braided brake lines chaffing on th

March 2015

March 1st, 2015 Spend: £0   Julian from Aerodynamix had given me a small strip of carbon at last years Stoneleigh show and today I can finally make some use out of it.     So transfer the shape and go at it with the Dremel       March 6th, 2015 Spend: £54.54   Received my QR today and after a fiddly hour or so got it all assembled   March 7th, 2015 Spend: £219.54     Bought some

February 2015

February 8th, 2015 Spend: £48.57     That should be it for now. Next week the dash!   February 13th, 2015 Spend: £18.96   Took a few days off for family commitments and ramping up the pace as the 1st of March deadline is looming.     Marked the gauge locations on the dash and then out comes the hole saw.       Gauges fitted   February 14th, 2015 Spend: £4.18   More wi

January 2015

January 17th, 2015 Spend: £29.35   After a very docile December month, we're finally getting into the 'spend a weekend in the garage' routine that I need in order to get the car back on the road on the 1st of March (this year!). We're starting off with a piece of dashboard off-cut that will serve as a holder for the relays and fuses. I've had to order some more relays now I also have got my wiring diagrams done.       January 24th, 2015 Sp

December 2014

December 31st, 2014 Spend: £111.92   Santa brought me a few presents, but that's pretty much it for this month. No progress made at all on the car         Last month: £   873.50 This month: £   111.92             ----------+ Total:      £   985.42

November 2014

November 2nd, 2014 Spend: £0   Now the dash is removed, I need to untangle the wiring mess. After recommendation on the forums I also removed the scuttle. It makes access so much easier.     November 16th, 2014 Spend: £5.55   Finally had the courage to tap the 5/16th UNC thread in the exhaust manifold and I shouldn't have been so worried. Turned out to be very easy     November 22nd, 2014 Spend: £144.96

October 2014

October 12th, 2014 Spend: £40   I picked up a new silencer from BCF back in September which he had on his Crossflow to replace my battered example, but luck is not on my side as the link pipe on the new exhaust is different to mine and it won't clear the bodywork.     Ok, I'll remove the exhaust manifold then so I can clean it up and wrap it with some heatwrap... Wrong! The bolts where pretty rusty and sure enough, one of the bolts rounded off so I had to reso

September 2014

September 2nd, 2014 Spend: £85   A job originally planned to happen before Stoneleigh, but due to a sign shop messing me about I only got around at doing today. The kind folks at Sign Wizzard in Aylesbury added at least 10 BHP .     September 6th, 2014 Spend: £17   And now the racing stripe is on, I can also finally fit the smaller number plate I bought ages ago.     September 16th, 2014 Spend: £43   With the

June 2014

June 15th, 2014 Spend: £446 Sold:  £300   For the past 2 months I've been sitting on a padded garden chair cushion due to not being able to drive the car with the standard Westfield sport seats. At the Stoneleigh show I visited the Intatrim stand which had a lovely, but more importantly, comfortable thin shell seat on display.     I placed my order the next working day, and last Thursday they finally arrived.     Cleaned up the old seats

May 2014

May 3rd, 2014 Spend: £7   Now the brakes are back together again, I could finally concentrate on the diff. The breather was smaller than the thread on the diff, so I bought some Sikaflex EBT+ from Screwfix and just glued it in place.     Then went for spin to warm the diff oil up and used my Pela 6000 to suck the old stuff out (by god it smells!). Got about 800ml out and put about 1.1L back in. Looks like it was well overdue!     May 9th,

April 2014

April 12th, 2014 Spend: £100   Prior to collecting the car, I'd agreed to meet up with Barry as he had a lovely Aeroscreen up for sale. What better way to start ownership with your first upgrade?   April 14th, 2014 Spend: £36   Managed to snipe a brand new, never fitted leather boot tonneau cover on Ebay. Although it's designed for the single (cosmetic) rollbar, and I have an RAC one, I reckon with a little bit of DIY it can be made to fit.   Apr

And so it continues

Spend: £4,200   Even after I bought, spend, broken down, spend some more and sold my previous Westfield, the urge to own another one kept coming back, like a bad cold you just can't shake. So having taken care of the car situation by having a family car to drive to work in and a small city runabout for Mrs Q, there was money left in the kitty and I was back to scouring the adverts, looking for a toy.   After a few weeks, an advert popped up on Ebay and within 10 minutes of it
