Looking for some advise on the elite range. I currently run a Quaife 4 speed dog box which keeps breaking. Is the IL200 compatible with 240+bhp? Also are there any reliability issues with the unit?

I see Quaife do a similar unit is there much difference between the two other than cost?

Thanks

just done some looking into tis the last couple of weeks ,forget the 200 ,the 300 has been upgraded and is prbably your best bet @£4400 the quaife g60 is £6000 , i rang and spoke to both telling them 500 bhp and 300ftlb of torque @9000 rpm and both said they are up to the job ,

there is a elite dog box on ebay at the moment but the history is a bit dodgy, but its unusual for a quaife dog box to give trouble like that with that sort of power i know people who have run them for years without issues with more power

Here's an IL200 in a 270 bhp Vx engined westy.  So far it's only done 3 sprint events (double entered), but unless you're competing, it's hard to give it this sort of abuse.

Ask me again in 6 months and I'll tell you how it stands up to a pair of lunatic drivers for a full season.

Road use or racing only?  A friend has an IL200 box in a Caterham which fell apart in a fairly comprehensive and expensive manner.  Elite told him it's not suitable for road use and needs to be totally rebuilt at least every 1000km.  Might be OK for a sprint car doing very few miles a year - chocolate teapot for anything else.

il300 here with best part of 500 horses being forced through it. In its 3rd year and 3000 miles.

You simply wont beat their customer service either IMO.

Just bought another one this week for a 500+BHP MK2 Escort.

The box would be used mostly for hillclimbs and occasional track days. Are the Elite IL200 boxes expensive to rebuild/service and how capable are they for clutchless up/down shifts?

Elite boxes are simple to rebuild, you could do it yourself if you had some basic tools.

Clutchless up/down shifts are possible as with any sequential ... take a look at DavdL's video with paddleshift ... doesn't get anymore clutchless than that :D:D:D
