You're right though - scale the electric cars up and it's a lot of electricity. If/when we go down that route the greenest electrical supplies won't be enough. We'll need trade offs in electrical generation vs ecological damage, such as tidal barriers or construction of nuclear plants. Or the green lobby, on environmental grounds, lobby to ban all private transport on sustainability grounds and we all end up on an electric buses. Lawrie Posted March 3, 2018 Share Posted March 3, 2018 For a year they've been able to ban old diesels in Paris (Grenoble and Strasbourg are/were next with more to come) when it gets a bit polluted. Every car going into a controlled zone has to have a sticker (or be fined, even foreigners) There are 5 categories depending on the age of the car's launch, so they can ban the oldest (presumed worst) polluters first.
