I want to enter this year but am unsure of class at present.

The car wont be ready until mid season and I dont know which tyres I will be using .

So if I enter A can I change to C ,E or G  before I start competing ?

Thanks

Stu

It depends on the car spec not just tyres. I seem to recall you wanting a bike engine for this project which therefore rules out A and C if that's what you ended up with

It wasn't a bike engine :d

Hi Stu,

Great to have you back.

According to the regs there is a nominal admin fee of £10 to change class. But I am sure if you speak nicely to Mr Panda he will be understanding and let you enter/change before you start competing with a minimum amount of bribery :d

The car is very basic and would qualify for A. ( standard car engine, box, no lsd, no ARBs, etc)

But I would have to buy new tyres for A, whereas I could use a knackered old set of ZZRs in C

I think I need a HANS for C as well.

Also I'm sure I read that only Class A need to be taxed/mot etc

You only need HANS for list 1C (ZZRs etc) or slicks as it would put you in mod prod class at events. List 1B don't warrant this and can still run in A, C or E

If you run road going you need tax and mot etc but if you run 1c tyres you can get a vehicle passport instead but it still has to be capable of passing a full mot

Bit confused sorry  ( dont have a blue book yet)

If I fit ZZRs and run in WSCC 'C' with tax, mot, ins I will be in mod prod at events.

So will I need a passport as well as the above to run in mod prod?

Also do belts now have to be in date for mod prod ?

Or if I stay in WSCC 'A' could I fit ACB 10s (still 1b as far as I know) due to my chassis/reg being 1989?

TIA

If your car has MOT ,tax and Insurance these will be fine even if you run-in mod prods on the day (due housing ZZR) Asan alternative money saver you can just hae a vehicle passport and save you money but the car must be "road based"and theoretically capable of passing an MOT

You need Hans Device to run in mod Prods

Belts do not have to be in date ion either road going or mod prods

Not sure about ACB 10 or cross plies anymore as most clubs dont allow cross plies for specialist production ( kit ) cars

Thanks Terry.

Yes they used to not allow acb 10s but this was generally dropped when ZZrs, khumos etc came along and were better.

I dont recall seeing it in regs when I was last competing

I will pobably end up on some old ZZRs or new 888s/AR1s

Remember that if you go on ZZRs or a 1C tyre you will need a full cage as well as a hans device

Full cage is only for above 2 litre if I am not mistaken but it would need an MSA vehicle passport and HANS. Tax , MOT and insurance is a WSCC SS specific requirement but for MSA events on non MSA road going class compliant tyres (non 1A / 1B) a passport is needed whether MOTd, taxed or insured or not
