Got a pic of your first car?

Was looking for a photo tonight and came across a pic of my first car, so thought I'd show-n-tell to the class.

1977 Skoda S110L bought in 1984 at age 18. The paint was a bit chalky, so my dad shot the two-tone on it, and we added the spottie bar. Only had it a bit more than a year and got a 1977 Mini with lumpy cam, big SU, three branch, Cooper sump guard, Corolla high-back seats and Dunlop alloys. The Westfield is my latest car, No.38, and every car in between I've modified in some way large or small. I'd be properly minted if I hadn't spent so much money on playing with cars!

At 18 I was a late developer licence-wise - most kids in NZ back then got their licence as soon as they could after their 15th birthday (it's now 17), but my mates had cars so I wasn't short of a lift. My brother who's two years younger had his first car 2-1/2 years before me - a Hillman Imp on banded steelies, and my dad painted it lime green with a black bonnet a-la Torana SLR5000 (grandfather to the Monaro VXR).

I guess we could also include listing all our fun cars cars here too ! I started with cars then spent time in company vans and cars , then was able to get my own.

My first car was a 1972 Mini Mk3, which I rebuilt a Cooper 1000 and stuck it in   , then a 1961 Mk1 which I rebuilt into a Cooper S replica was a 1340cc , then a gap while I bought houses , then a Westie Pre-Lit , then a gap for houses and kids and a wedding  . Then a Westie SEIw Zetec, then a TVR S3 , moving onto a Lotus Elise Mk2 111's, then a mental Focus St Mk2 , to then end up with my Westie Mega S2000. May have some photos somewhere of the minis. Will dig them out later and try and add them to the thread.

Bit blurry, but here they are. First is me changing the engine to the cooper one and a rod change gearbox conversion

Second is the Mk1 after the bare shell rebuild

@Thrustyjust Nice Mini's - like the second one with the cage. Here was my one (description above) in touring mode (roof-rack).

Don't have a digital photo of my first, but this was my second.  Built '76 and sold '84 after 91,000 miles.  Still going strong in 2000 when it was exported to Italy; may still be driving around Milan :)

@SXRORY  Excellent choice on the Nissan! I had a 1992 S13 Silvia with the same bullet-proof chain-drive SR20 engine. The SR20 would make a great Westfield motor, especially in the turbo SR20DET.

Niiice ps13.....Great engines yes but they are rather tall so people that have done it have to get creative.

Mine ran that power faultlessly for years, amazing really. It suprised quite a few cars. I kept it stock looking bar wheels, midrange was crazy quick.

The only thing was, it sounded like farting in a baked bean tin. Tuneful it was not

CA  is better I think for kits but nowhere near as strong.

3.5 V8 Range Rover was the first car I owned (my first car after passing was a Renault 5 but it was my Mums!).

Purchased with money from the kind people at the Student Loan Company while I was at Huddersfield Uni!!!!

@Thrustyjust Didn't know the thin white duke was so into minis? :d

Yup, thats where I cut my teeth in dismantling, breaking, repairing , breaking , dismantling started from . The picture of the 'aqua blue mini' was my first car, which I trashed my parents garage always fixing it and convinced them, it was time I found my own place to live :d. Especially when mum wanted something out the chest freezer and we had to lift the engine off it to get something for dinner. Sadly, after 2 years of building the red one ( I had to make a sensible time frame to build it , as was on apprentice wages then) at a girlfriends nans garage, as banned at home, from the last nuclear fallout it created, I sold it to put a deposit down on my first house. :(

Another couple of pictures of the red car in strip and engine built and fitted.

We only had to replace the front panel, the rear valence and an A panel. The rest was original but took 6 months to strip the body and repair. It was a solid .

I started early:

The one above was more reliable than this one, though it's got the same pedal rubbers as my Westie!
