Mr Grumpy - Can they rebuild him..?

Recommended Posts

Spoke to Grizlee last night and Mr Grumpys recovery is going blinding well.

Griz and BollockyBill have replaced the gearbox, springs, fitted electronic ignition, new head lights etc.

After some thought, not going for new seats, I'll explain and ask for alternate advise in another post.

He started up fine (eventually) and apart from a binding rear brake (probably down to my cackhanded use of Pound coins as spacers...) he is moving about.

He just needs the new stickon plate - I suspect he would pass with the current one, but seeing how the local garage failed his current plate and I will need to use them going forward, so lets get a BS approved one on him.

And if the Gods, winds and planets align, he will be MoT'd in the next few weeks..!

Tyres kicked and nuts tightened. MOT booked for Wednesday, 12th July.

Apart from not actually driving Mr G yet, we have no idea how he will perform. Final push on Sunday, wash and wax. Well, at least a wash.

Fingers crossed, watch this space. What could possibly go wrong?

I don't know about a wash and wax, it's going to take a couple of weeks to get all the leaves out of the clam shells

Well that depends on which of his two cars you are talking about, personally I'm looking forward to pulling out the V8 :)

I've worked with you for nearly ten years, I don't need convincing you are a nut job...

BTW, did you manage to drop the lower temp thermostat in him..? I can't see the climate getting any colder any time soon

Yes, lower temp stat in place along with matching fan switch and, we had to drill out the connection to the expansion tank as it was blocked solid with calcium and grunge.

Any particular rattle? Plenty to choose from.
