Westfield SEiW wanted

I've just rejoined the group having had a sabbatical for 4 years whilst owning a mk2 escort rally car. Sold the escort this week with the intention of buying another westfield.

My last westfield ended up with a dry sump Swindon powered Vauxhall XE in it which I installed and posted about on the site, great car.

My quandary is, whether I look at something very similar to go back to or whether I should consider either a Megabusa or a V8. Never having had anything to do with either of those two cars I'm a little unsure as to which would suit me the best.

Previously I had used my westfield for the occasional 40 mile trip to work on a sunny day, Hillclimbs and the thought of the odd track day. I guess nothing has changed really, but I'd like the next car to tick all the right boxes.

Budget is <£12k, so I'm looking to you guys for some suggestions. Thanks

Welcome back!

Two very different alternatives. With very different "feel" to the driving, ultimately, you're going to need "bum on seat" time to decide, it's one of those things where you'll prefer one type over the other, no matter how great an example you're driving. I guess they're pretty much the two extreme ends of the Westfield range!

Bear in mind that if hill climbing the regs have changed a bit in the last 4 years wrt to tyres and roll over protection and potentially also hans devices

A v8 may mean that you need an A licence if in non road legal class (because of tyres)

David

It's funny - I love my current Westy (185bhp Zetec) but keep thinking that if ever I built (or bought) another it would either be a Busa or a V8.

I love bikes, and so a bike engine would be a load of fun and close to my heart - but the noise and grunt of a V8 is so appealing, in a complete opposite end of the spectrum kind of way.

No plans to change though :d

Yes you're right it is a lovely car just a little bit out of my price range though. I'm going to look at Skooby's 2.0 Zetec westy tomorrow, looks like a properly built and well sorted car.

Quick update, now bought Skooby's westy. Great chap and member of this club. Picking the car up on Monday and can't wait to be back in the drivers seat of a westfield once again!
