Man On The Clapham Omnibus
They've just finished doing the drain lining and it smells like a Westfield bodyshop! The styrene monomer smell is all-pervading and that's with with the manhole covers on. The lining is a fibre tube (they said it was a polyester fibre but I suspect it's actually chopped long-strand glass) which they dose with activator in one end and use a roller to squeegee it through to the other while simultaneously consolidating it with the resin impregnated tube. It's then pulled through the pipe and then inflated against the inner bore of the fractured ceramic pipe. The operators have to sit in their van for about ninety minutes while the resin cures off (crap job, but someone has to do it) then they trim off the ends with a circular saw and Bob's you uncle! No idea what it costs because it's an insurance job, but it won't have been cheap.
