1990 SE XFlow - SOLD

I think the time has come to move on. I have owned the car for 14 years and have upgraded and maintained it over the years. You can see the car in the most recent issue of Westfield World – it’s pictured in front of the Stoneleigh sign with my wife and myself in it. More pictures below.

 

·         Westfield SE Narrow body

·         Approx. 16K miles

·         Registered 1990 as a Westfield on V5

·         MOT June 2017 (I have most of the previous MOT certificates)

·         1632cc Ford Kent Crossflow engine in a decent spec (more details below)

·         Originally a kit build but rebuilt by Westfield on new chassis in 1993. I have correspondence from Westfield for work done.

 

Bodywork:

·         Burgundy with swept wings

·         Very good condition for year

·         Aluminium stone guards

·         Chrome roll bar

·         Chrome headlights

·         Woven stainless mesh grill and air intakes

·         Alloy screen surround with alloy wing mirrors

 

Wheels & Tyres:

·         Team Dynamics 15” wheels with McGard locking nuts (steel spare) fitted April 2013

·         Toyo T1R tyres (except spare) fitted April 2013 (approx. 2000 miles ago)

·         Spare wheel cover with Westfield logo

 

Interior:

·         New burgundy carpets fitted August 2013 with vinyl foot rests

·         Push button start

·         Smiths instruments

·         12V output

·         Inertia reel seat belts

·         Intatrim Odyssey highback seats in biscuit colour and burgundy piping fitted April 2005

·         Chrome trimmed gear lever and hand brake surround

·         Leather steering wheel in biscuit

·         Original hood in biscuit

·         Original side screen in biscuit (no cracks in clear Perspex)

·         Original boot cover in biscuit

·         Scissor jack with wheel brace

 

Engine:

·         1632cc Ford Kent Crossflow

·         I have details of engine rebuild but cannot confirm as it was done prior to my ownership (new pistons, new oil pump, new timing chain, new exhaust valves, cam followers)

·         711 Block

·         Fast road cam – exact spec unknown

·         Gas flowed head

·         Twin Weber 40 carbs

·         K&N filters

·         Jenvey Dynamics baffled sump so no oil surge

·         Unleaded head

·         Westfield 4 branch stainless manifold

·         Westfield stainless silencer with alloy guard

·         Electric pull fan with override switch

·         New alternator fitted August 2003

·         Polo alloy radiator fitted new December 2003

·         Lucas Constant Energy ignition system fitted August 2004

·         New water pump March 2005

·         New clutch fitted August 2011

·         New plug leads fitted August 2011

·         New fuel pump and rubber fuel lines June 2016

·         Very little oil thrown into catch can

·         I have always used Valvoline Racing 20/50 oil – changed every year

 

Rolling road print out from John Wilcox showed approx. 100bhp at wheels (120bhp ish at flywheel)

 

Gearbox / Final Drive:

·         Ford Type 9 5 speed gearbox supplied by Westfield

·         English differential

·         Live axle

 

Suspension:

·         Spax adjustable dampers

·         Standard cast uprights

 

Brakes:

·         Solid discs at front with M16 callipers (new callipers fitted but I can’t remember when)

·         Braided brake lines

·         Rear drum brakes

 

 

Inspection or test welcome. Proof of comprehensive insurance required to drive it.

Looks a lovely example and there cannot be too many early se knocking around now in good nick? Always think the older cars sit nicer somehow...looks like a low line as well, which adds to the appeal IMHO....same as mine lol.

Obviously less roomy for the larger person, but a great car none the less.

Also 100 bhp at the wheels is not to be sniffed at and will surprise much more powerful cars.

And then there's the cross flow noise at full chat which takes some beating.....

Bump for a nice car at a very good price!

Car is being driven to Harwich today for an overnight sailing to Holland. Tomorrow 600km to Northern Germany for a Sunday 3am sailing to Helsinki, arriving Monday morning, followed by a 2 hour drive north of Helsinki to its new home.

 

Jari - if you read this, it was good to meet you and your brother. I hope you enjoyed the beer and many thanks for the book - very funny!
