Fantastic turn out for the kent area March monthly meet. 10 cars joined us for the 70 mile blat and many more for breaky at the Stag pub. Great effort, happy Easter 🐣

Along with an eclectic mix of 80 other cars, participated in Minehead Motor Club’s Spring Tour today. As usual, a very enjoyable ~70 mile run around the country lanes of the Quantock and Brendon Hills on the Somerset/Devon border. As expected plenty of mud and standing water about, at least the ford was shallow! Guess this week I’ll be cleaning the car!

Hello all. New member here having just joined and thought I'd introduce myself. I've just completed the purchase of my first Westfield from Andrew at Toybox, and the car is likely to be with me next week. Andrew has made the whole process so easy and relaxed. To say I'm excited is a massive understatement, and I'm sure you all remember that 'Christmas Eve' feeling very well. I've gone for an Electric Blue over black, FW, 2.0 Zetec on Omex TB's with Omex ECU too. Plenty of carbon goodies on this one as well. Looking forward to learning more, getting some experience under my belt, and essentially just having some fun! Steve.

Easter Sunday in the Peak District could be risky with traffic jams and such like but not today, oh blimey, it was empty on the roads. 9 Westfield's met at a cold and cloudy Hulme End, 7 in a row here and the remaining 2 here Glynn was wearing some of our new club merchandise from 'logo that polo', here he is with his new wooly hat which perfectly matches the lovely colour of his Westfield After warming up inside the surprisingly empty cafe 9 Westfield's took off on our travels, heading straight for the Bentley Brook road, one of our favourites as it is sweeping bend after sweeping bend. After crossing the Via Gellia road, we were 7 Westfield's as 2 had to go home and it really got interesting, a mix of new tyres, dry roads, emptyness, ooo, Glen commented I was like a woman possesed, it was awesome. I would like to thank the great drivers behind me for being an excellent convoy, we didn't get split up once, making it much more enjoyable for me too. The roads were so quiet I took us through Bakewell, it was no problem, unbelievable what difference the sunshine makes i.e no sun, no tourists. After the excitement we landed at Quackers for lunch, where it was busy, so we sat outside. The cake flowed Andy's speedo was not working (officer!😁), it wasn't the fuse ???? Easter Bunnies have been replaced by Easter Frogs, which I can confirm are just as delicious Thanks for coming everyone, thanks for taking photo's on the move Becky and thanks for making a great day out all round. Evening all. Yesterday morning, the first lovely Sunday in a while round my area had been forecast; so up early I get to take the Westfield for it's first proper spin of the year. Got my bits together, wife not expecting me back until lunch, no jobs around the house, super. Key won't go into the ignition barrell. I decide there's either there's some debris in the barrel, or the first pin is seized. So anyway, some hours later and a trip to the shops, the key has been pounded flat with a wooden mallet. The ignition barrell has been WD40d, Graphite Powdered, blasted through with air and generally probed like an Alien abductee. It's too late to go on my trip, and the key still won't go in. Locksmiths have been googled. I debate trying to pull the ignition barrel off the car, but that's a giant PITA. And then I stop trying to use the boot key to start the car and just put the ignition key in. Starts first time, of course. So, anyway, I was wondering: What's the stupidest (safe) thing you've done with your car recently? Make me feel better about how I wasted my Sunday 🙂 Si

Finally some drier weather........

I probably know a bit more than most on this as a couple of us have been putting in a lot of time (some more than I) trying to help in our own time in the back ground. The car was a non-runner being sold at a very low price for a Westfield of exportable age. It last had an MOT in 2020 and had been sat untouched ever since. James (who was selling the car) managed to get the car started and a video was seen of it ticking over (although not running particularly well). Using contacts from our end, a transport company was sourced for Nikos to get the car to the docks in Bristol and he had sorted the export paperwork. Rather than being container shipped, the car was being exported as a running car (i.e. was to be driven onto and off the ship by the dockworkers). The transport company did not start the car, they winched it onto and off their trailer and it was delivered safely. When the dock workers attempted to start the car they could not. It was assumed that they were not used to an old car running webers. At this point, a helpful member rang various local garages who could attend the dock to get the car started. Paul at Bristol Classics agreed to do this, arriving very early to try and start the car. Unfortunately when the car eventually started (after over 2 hours of fault finding) the carbs were so far out of tune a backfire caused the filters to catch fire. Thankfully Paul managed to extinguish the flames. Bristol Classics then agreed with Nikos that the car be transported to their workshop to get the car running. They spent many hours on it with various electrical and fueling issues. For instance, they found the ignition was permanently on (which they fixed), the fan switch had failed and the fuel was stale (tank drained, system flushed and fresh fuel added). On inspection of the carbs, the 40 webers are of two different types (one from a Lotus and one from an Alfa) with different jets etc. The carbs were dismantled and cleaned along with new jets etc so the car could run with reasonably balanced fueling. While the bill is a lot if money, the car was not in a road legal state (known to have no MOT and be a "barn find"). Bristol Classics have done a lot of work and shared photos and videos at most stages of the work. The sale agreement (who with, what was described etc) is really between the seller and the buyer. It's not something I could or would offer an opinion on in open forum as its not fair on either party without all of the facts. Even with the £1500 spent, the car us still thousands below the price of all other exportable age Westfields I have seen for sale. On a side note, I'd like to thank the people who have helped in the background (you know who you are!). One person in particular has spent hours and hours of his own time liaising with the docks, transport companies and the garage trying to help someone in need.

As Andy said, a brilliant day out, that is one good route up there on the tops of Buxton especially in this clear air. It is Drive it Day today so it was great to see so many unusual cars on the roads too. We met at Cupola The Westfield's started gathering All the other cars were blue today, even Billy's Porche is blue The motorbikes have now discovered this new venue Bonnet's soon came off as the advice flowed After breakfast (thank you for the black pudding ABC)we set off and had a great time on the twisties of Buxton before relaxing on the final mile or so behind the inevitable wobblebox to land at Quacker's cafe. In the car park at Quacker's were the Jaguar Club, making for a wonderful display. This car is a SS100, well, we don't think it is actually, we think it is made of fibreglass so it's definitely not a 1939 car. I was a interested in the name, the SS stands for Swallow Sidecar (SS Cars Ltd used to build sidecars) and 100 is the theorectical maximum speed. It was a beautiful looking car and I think it was probably brand new, it looked it. Lunch at Quackers Apology for the rubbish photo, someone forgot her camera so it was all done from my phone, the breakfast one in Cupola was even worse, grrrrr. Clares first trackday ever, novice session at Donington, she loved it. Even managed to get some heat into the tyres even though its was 2degC and blowing a gale. Might have to have his and her westfields now, I can see her taking over all track driving duties from now

Well Julie what a fabulous day driving around the Peaks we all had. Another beautiful route and fantastic weather. The sky was so blue and the sun was finally out and topped off with great company. Some great classic car out and about too. When we got to Quackers there was a Jaguar meet also.😎

Got out with my mate Damo yesterday, me in the Flying Carrot him in his SDR V-Storm lunatic machine. Went to 5 Zeros Supercars Bradford-On-Avon for lunch, then had a nice shortish blat to Castle Combe race circuit where we drove the perimeter road to meet a mate who was marshaling a bike track day. No great pics but a great day full of laughs and silliness.

I've recently did my V8 bonnet vents using some mesh and these 3D printed press templates. You can find the 3D model files in my post here, but I appreciate that not everyone has access to a printer or the skills to design something themselves. So I'd like to hereby offer these free of charge to members who can then use them to press bonnet vents in his/hers preferred mesh. All I'm asking is to cover the postage to your address and once you're finished with them, offer them up to the next person under the same terms. @HB46443 has first dibs 👍

Now that Westfield are no longer making the MegaS2000 and now we have two in my hometown, Karl and I thought we would try an experiment..... Anyone know the gestation period of a Westfield and how big the litter is likely to be!? 😂

My wife bought me a 3D printer for my big birthday, and my OCD put it straight to work getting my toolboxes more organised than they have ever been. I've even created extra space for more tools 😁

Sorry - got other high priority things going on so no time for full write up. I’ll do it as soon as I can but here are the photos in no particular order. In the meantime, thanks for everyone for coming. Lovely day out with good friends. All on my own at Quackers - it appears that the opportunity of a lay in was too much of a temptation and the others were at the next stop. Either way pleased to get there as my car had fuel starvation issues on the way. At the Great British Car Journey we met Mark with his brand new Westfield - much admired Didn’t take a photo of @Andy Westwood car as it was not a Westfield!! Travelled to The Travellers Rest for dinner. Got somewhat photobombed by a luminous van. Then moved on the Baslow Cricket Club for the obligatory Peak District cake. Weather even held up. Brilliant. Fuel starvation again on the way home so not low fuel level in the tank. Time to look into a new fuel pump I think.

Lotus Drivers Club had what turned out to be their inaugural meet of the year at the village hotspot, and I rocked up in a pretend Lotus. 😂

First wash this season and after "drying" ride ( always drive properly to warm dry brakes etc -every excuse to go for some ride in Westfield is counting ) .

Oops! I seem to have lost an engine and gearbox… not to worry, new one being built by Richard Wragg at ProDev Engineering. Build thread to follow…

Quick run up on Dartmoor today, great to have a bit of sun for a change! This picture makes me realise I need to get some spacers fitted for the rears, wheels look a little lost. Photography skills need working on also!

An enjoyable day of spannering in the 🌞! An oil and filter change, swapped over the wheels to my silver set and torqued up, checked all the pressures of the ZZR's, refitted the de-cat pipe (MOT was a week ago), replaced the W4 stainless Mikalor exhaust clamp (the old W2 had given up the ghost when I fitted the cat and had the horrible U-bolt type as a quick fix), a 20 minute wash and polish (the joy of Carplan No1 Super Gloss!), quick test drive to Halfrauds for some more glysantin G30 and she's all ready for Kitfest tomorrow. The old jalopy isn't looking too bad, the dailies are looking filthy now though 🤦‍♂️😂 Before: After:

My car is indisposed currently, doing some work on the brakes and pedals so I headed to meet the others at Sparkford roundabout the Mondeo TToS 🤪. Not alone, Matt was in his A Class, leaving Jon the only one to be in a Westfield Heading in, it was very well attended with a wide variety of cars there. We had a look around the Heritage Workshops first off, with some lovely machinery being worked on which included a Lamborghini Muira, V12 Ferrari of some kind and an old Jag being restored. Whilst there, we saw Mr Haynes junior in a lovely AM DBR2 which he was shaking down after being worked on. The obligatory bacon/sausage baps were consumed followed by a wander round for an hour or so. Dave was there in his Elise, and we also bumped into @Paul Baker @SXRORY Paul and Rory down from Bristol, whose cars were in the paddock. Home by 10.40, a nice way to spend the morning.

Thank you @AndrewBClarke for a great day out and for leading the run, that massive lamb dinner must be good fuel 😁, it meant we could get some rare photo's of our car from the front, thank you Sue @Andy Westwood. Great to meet you @Mark zawada and really glad you felt welcomed into our mad area. Watch out for @ianali they have photo's of the three point turn, Andrew got us to the right village but at the wrong end 😮, don't mention it though will you 😁 We went to the 'Member's Only Meet' at the museum first and made some new friends. Have you noticed, nobody has just 1 car😄 Car museum Car museum Lunch break Mark's wheels that we were drooling over. Toybox have plenty more of them for sale apparently. I hit the 70,000 mile mark on my odometer as we were travelling along today. That means I have driven 60,000 miles in a Westfield, yeah. What a beautiful day! Hopefully the weather gods are starting to play nicely! I met up with Ben, Steve, Vicky, Colin and Gavin at the A38/A50 services just after 9am for a chat a kick of the tyres. Rather than do the boring A38, I'd decided to take us down some of the brilliant South Derbyshire B roads. Sadly, everyone's grandmother in a Kia Picanto or Ford Ka seemed to conspire against any brisk progress 🤦‍♂️. At least it was warm and dry and the scenery was nice. We had plenty of friendly waves, hoots and headlight flashing from passes by as the convoy headed south through the villages, it's great to put a smile on people's faces! Landing at the Curburgring we found a nice GBS Zero to park next to and were then joined by Matt who lives locally and Quinten who'd driven up from Northamptonshire! Nick was also there in his Striker but he had already started on the bacon sandwiches... Tony, Hedley, Iain, Rachael and Ian had also joined us in their tintops. A shot of Quintens unique SEIGHT on its lovely steelies next to Matts Sport 250 with gold Minilites.... really brings home how no two Westfields are the same! Nick's lovely new Striker. It's so small I could wear it as a shoe! Chris also joined us in his "tintop"... Sadly Chris and his wife have recently sold their "his and hers" Westfields due to unforeseen circumstances, so have replaced them with this! What a stunning machine and it sounds glorious 😍 After a dose of caffeine and saturated fat along with a good chat we headed for the busy paddock. This annual meet is a real "seven" lovers paradise with so many lovely cars on display and being driven as they should be.... flat out! It's also the only Caterham Academy round that is free to watch so it would be rude not to come along. Really great to see everyone today, over a dozen members plus spouses and family members is an awesome turnout 👍 Oh, and good luck to @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO who is running in the Potters 'Arf Marathon tomorrow.... you must be mad my friend! 😂

Found an hour today to make the most of the weather

Meet at Cupola, Stoney Middleton, S32 4TF at 9.30am on Sunday 21st April for breakfast before heading into the hills of Buxton to enjoy driving in the Spring sunshine. We will finish, possibly at Quackers cafe, Bakewell for lunch and cakes. Who is joining us?

A small but very select group came today. We drove into the Doddington Hall car park to be met by Chris Emmerson and Mo who were really chuffed by being the first there. This elation was soon misplaced when I introduced them to @Jakejmagee who wondered across having parked in another car park. Good try Chris. Better luck next time 🤪 Breakfast was consumed over some healthy conversation. @Jakejmagee really went for it and had the full English. The rest of us paced ourselves hoping that better was to come. We then moved on to The International Bomber Command Memorial which is well worth a visit. More food was consumed including Sunday lunch by a few of us 😁. Chris, Jake and I then went on the free guided tour which was very enlightening but cold on top a hill overlooking Lincoln city. I wimped out this morning, deciding to take the tin top to the Haynes Breakfast Club meet 🥲 so feeling sorry for my self I totally ignored the weather forecast and decided to go on a little run down to Lyme Regis with the 🥕 instead! Glad I did ☀️👌🏼

It's not lego, but it did take me a decent amount of time. This little fella leads my army of toy soldiers, and for scale stands on a 50mm diameter base. All hand/brush painted, including the freehanded letters and number on the shoulder pad and banner. It's the most detailed thing I've ever painted, and I reckon there's maybe 30 hours in the painting. I really need a better way of photographing my models. Do any of the modelling community on here have any tips?

The 2024 WSCC Speed series Championship & WSCC Challenge Championship has started. 23rd March Cadwell Park & 24th of March Mallory Park. The Westfield community were there supporting the competing membership. Great meeting your friends in their highly polished cars! But it is even better being shown how they like to get a move on around the sprinting coarse. Just Like the Westfield Sports Car Club Forum. All Kit cars are able to take part in the WSCC Championships. Categories for all engine types & capacities. 29 rounds - 22 sprinting events & 7 Hill climbs. Compete against the clock, accumulate points & win awards. You choose the tracks and the rounds you wish to attend. Based on reviews I used the turtle wax products its called hybrid one and done it cuts and finishes at the same time they do really good deals on their website. I got better at using it the more i got further down the car I then used their spray on flex wax again easy to use and spry it on wipe off. should last 6 months but you can spray it on when drying a washed car to top it up. Happy with the results the car looked the best it has for years. I got out all the swirls. Deeper scratches would need more attention but i was not going to spend ages on it. And any excuse to post a picture ha

The cover's off! 6 months hibernation comes to end, tyres back down from 40 psi to 18, everything working OK apart from a very slight leak from the unused speedo drive on the gearbox. Time to get it taxed and get away from months of house renovation...
