  3. Well to put Slasher in his place, I just watched it and really enjoyed it. Riviera Blue is a great colour and regardless of the car, the chap thoroughly deserved having the car restored for him as a thank you from his wife. Very touching. I think we have to remember that we are addicted to spanners and oil, whereas the general punter isnt, so finding that balance of filming is tricky, but I thought it was right. I hope he enjoys the car and he was in deepest Berkshire, so maybe I may see him around , which would be cool. Now go and finish your horlicks slasher

  5. Don't get too hung up on getting a Busa powered car,they are quite old now and expensive engines! They have issues with oil starvation,so need a modified pick up set up/sump or Accusump at the least ,or to be properly safe they need a dry sump system. Where as a R1 powered car will have less power,but won't be massively slower over all. R1 engines just need a baffle plate in the sump,and run a slight over fill of oil and you will be safe. Blow up a Busa engine and it will be circa twice as much to replace as a R1 engine

  6. You really need to see cars in the flesh so you can sit in and get a feel for them . At last years Stoneleigh show there was a nice white MNR at Their stand in the Hall ,looked that good I was tempted to have a seat in it ,I could get in but with the seat right back it was extremely cramped and my legs were wedged against the steering wheel .Theres quite a difference in driver space between what appear to be similar cars. Make sure you get a feel for the type of car you want to buy

  10. What spoils it for me is Tim Shaw, yes he is a petrolhead but does anyone find his "comedic" parts blagging funny, apart from him? Fuzz knows his stuff and has a good team around him just restore the cars make people who deserve a break happy and cut out the childish crap

  11. And let’s not show favouritism, Westfield’s suspension isn’t without its issues. It can be made very, very good, and even a proper geo set up gives excellent handling. But with a clean sheet, it could be improved upon, even keeping the same rough, basic layout.

  12. I think the board has half a dozen flags, but if I could get two or three working cheaply by butchering wireless doorbell kits then that would be worth looking into. Thanks Of course I’m really hoping that @Kit Car Electronics will see this as a new side line and come up with the “servant freewheel” equivalent...

  13. I very nearly bought an MNR kit but ended up with a Westfield as I just couldn’t quite get away with the MNR “look”. Also the amount of parts and accessories available off the shelf to suit Westfields from a wide variety of suppliers (I’m talking carbon bits etc) seemed better with the MNR being a bit “niche”. However, having toured their factory (big barn in the country!) I was impressed with the quality of the chassis and their attitude. Nice cars.

  14. Yep it was a better quality Grp in my opinion. The chassis was very well designed with some nice race proven suspension including inboard rear shocks (don't know if this has filtered down to the road cars yet). Unfortunately I had some issues that were kind of out of MNR's control which meant I never finished the build. However I've actually been looking at them again but the only thing putting me off is I'm a bit softer these days and liked the Westfield screen and sidescreens.

  15. Does look a nice car that,and well specced The MNR chassis is a work of art,all tubular and looks very strong. @sdh2903 had a MNR,and in his opinion the fibreglass panels finish etc is better from MNR than Westfield

I am still hoping to get to the meet tomorrow but it looks as though a friend and I are going to go 50/50 on a car... we only want this as a weekend/evening toy so if we can both put in £6/7k each we can get a better and cleaner car...   20. Thank you all so much for your rapid and helpful responses, my mechanic friend thinks he can get a vehicle to move it. Problem number two is how to tell the wife I've bought one?..... John Surely the MSA (or other regulatory bodies) need your extensive background and first hand experience to help bring this class of car into competition in the most sensible and practical ways possible? You would certainly get my vote and be a respected and knowledgable voice for the cause of the cars of the future? G

  22. Another slight alteration to the plan. As @kevip6 has other commitments on the 8th April, the weigh-in will now take place the following Sunday, 15th April. Start time and activities remain the same, so get weighed, get fed and get timed on the simulator. Put it in your diary and I will give it a bump nearer the time.
