  1. Unfortunately, the aero screen remained stuck to the backing sheet, and I had to reduce the distance ever so slightly between the monkeys to get it to fit between the lines, but here we go

  2. A quick meet up in Matlock. Dave, Martyn and Sue, Chris and Mo in the Westfields and Paul, who has SORN the VX220, came in his other flashy motor, a GT86. I asked if he would travel with the heater off and the windows down, but he just growled at me . The interior of the GT86 We drove through Chatsworth and on until we got to Grindleford Station Cafe. I have a new hobby, when I approach the cyclists and slow down, I overtake them and then just lift off the throttle slightly, so I can hear Dave behind me accelerate past them. It works every time and it sounds fantastic, now that is how to turn a negative into a positive. We had breakfast next to the real fire But not before John and Jacky arrived in their super special car. It is a Honda S2000, GT model, with a rare platinum pearl white paint. It is an 08 plate with only 7500 miles on the clock, it is immaculate, just wait until you see the engine bay, a rare sight on this forum, a Honda engine actually in a Honda car. After brekkie, we set off on some very scenic roads, everyone was glad when the slow MX5 turned off, why would you drop the top and bring your sports car out on a day like today, only to drive at 40 mph? When you see SLOW written on the road in white paint, it means normal cars must SLOW for the tight corner ahead, in sports car language it translates to FUN, prepare to speed up around the corner, yes? tell me I am wrong. Moving on, we booted it up the essess to Elton, and booted it down the Via Gellia, nice quiet roads today, thank you. We waited for the others at one point, which was an excellent photo opportunity. We arrived at the Cromford Canal cafe, and it was cake time, yummy, yummy, ginger and lemon cake, I've never had that one before. Dave showed us his interior lighting display, which was impressive, I didn't know Westfield's had interior lights, what colour would sir like to travel by today, blue, green or orange? The view from inside the cafe, we sat upstairs The cafe The canal The GT86 Another brilliant day, with great, fun, roads, lovely views, lovely cars, excellent eating establishments, but best of all is the people and the laugh that we have. Now, next weekend is the WSCC committee meeting so we will not be out, I am going to let Martyn's tyres down in the week , so he cannot go without us. If the weather is as sparkling as this I will be mortified and wildly jealous, and I definitely don't want to know about it Martyn. We will be back in action the weekend after though.

  3. Congrats to all, wish I could bottle up the enthusiasm Ali and Gail have and sell it, I’d make a fortune!

  4. @Ali and Gail have won this competition by driving 9270 miles in their Westfield. @AndrewBClarke is in second place with 3124 miles. @Trevturtle is in third place with 2737 miles. Congratulations to the winners and thank you to everyone that entered.

  5. Having seen some really nice tidy engine bays, I decided to take a look at mine, and see if I could improve in the view that already contains a mighty xflow Main thing I always got drawn to, was the return pipe from the thermostat to the header tank, basically a bit of hand bent copper tube running over the exhaust header. So, had a think and looked at other cars, and a nice hardline properly clipped down as per a photo on this forum was the way to go. This was the inspiration picture Bit of 10mm alloy tube, some blue silicone pipe, couple of P clips, and a hand pipe bender. Also routed the plug leads differently, need to source some nice clips for the leads now.

  6. Not and event in itself, but we have now set up a Whatsapp group, as another channel to communicate events and track days, especially when something is being organised at short notice. If you would like to be added to the group, please message me your mobile number (and download the app if you don't already have it).

  9. and enjoy this phase of ownership. Although I didn't build, i imagine it's similar to having a child, being enjoyable, frustrating and worrying. But it's a time you will never get back unless, of course, you have another one!

  10. I might come to this one (weather dependant) I'm going to book it a few days before if it's going to be dry. Who did you book with & how much?

  12. My Westy lives outside all year round, as have all my previous 'toys' I've never bothered to SORN them, as I do enjoy a run if the sun is out, even if the temp doesn't match the outlook. And SORN doesn't mean I get to lock it in the garage and work in the warm, so I pay the full years road tax, and hope to get some winter use. And so we decided to have a little run today. Spent 3 hours out and about without stopping so plenty of smiles per gallon, even if the might xflow does drink more juice than my Boxster did ! We went form Southport over to Horwich, up to Rivington, back via Chorley , Croston and top end of Southport. Nope, not the most exciting roads, nor the fastest, in fact we didn't breach a single speed limit all day ( some facts of this story may have been changed ) No roof, no doors, just the wind deflectors. Mrs asked what I was wearing against the weather, I said a fleece, wooly hat and gloves, it's a lovely day out. And a balmy 7 degrees. She then set about like dressing as an extra from a winter catastrophe movie. The wind deflectors do a great job at deflecting roadside mud ( lets just agree it was mud, and not cow related ) And nothing a quick wash couldn't sort out. And we enjoyed blue sky the whole time

  14. Great result and I'm sure it's pure co-incidence that all 4 of the above have had opportunity to wave cake in front of Julie! Luckily her morals are much higher than those in Parliament!

Massive thanks to @RussH for all the help, support and guidance throughout this journey and for the time freely given to assist me find the right car. Anyway, I bought a Kingfisher Blue SEIW with a tuned 2l XE engine. The car is absolutely epic.....I love everything about it and so does the Mrs! I bought the car from @john10speed and it’s a known car within the club. Looking forward to getting my head around what’s what and meeting a few of you at events through the warmer weather. Heres a few piccies.......

  17. Excellent results. Thank you Julie for organising this and thanks to those who took part. Prizes will be sorted shortly. I'll personally double the value of first prize in 2018 if you can beat 9270 miles. Ali and Gail excluded of course.

  23. It's alive! Got my Westy back on the road today! Had the gearbox rebuilt whilst the engine was out - new selector forks, synchro cones, seals, bearings, pump and breather. Changed the clutch to an organic clutch plate, new cover, release bearing, strengthened fork (the part that failed) and a McLeod Racing lightened flywheel which took over 3 months to come from the USA. Even sailed through its MoT Happy days.
