  1. Hi All, We (The Committee) obviously take any mention of Member's accounts being tampered with extremely seriously as well as any negative information about WSC Ltd. In this instance, I hid this post this morning whilst we did some background digging which was in my opinion the right thing to do at the time. The result is that the OP is correct, the WSC Ltd website was and is in a bit of a state to say the least, especially the shop. I have spoken to Simon at WSC Ltd this morning and he tells me it is being dealt with as I type this and may take a couple of days to sort. Further, measures are afoot to change things for the better (performance and security) in the coming months. Thank you Mike, for raising the issue with the WSC Ltd website and thank you John, for highlighting the potential tampering of a member account. Please do continue to highlight any future website issues directly to WSC Ltd and if you feel you are not getting an adequate response, let me know.

  2. Well, another fun day out, this time at Three Sisters. No blog this time as I hear Terry was away sunning himself! But as far as I can remember... - Dave Cleaver took FTD - The BEC boys had quite a battle, all within a few tenths of each other - Nobody crashed - Nobody broke anything major - I went sideways a lot on my Eco road tyres Lets see your vids

  4. Hi all Had a great day Friday and did manage to say hello to a few of you Westfielders Took loads of pictures (sorry none of the Westies) - you should be able to see them on the link below and you shouldnt need a Facebook account to be able to view them https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1660813100609321.1073742215.100000419413756&type=1&l=620e3cc597

  5. A friend of mine (who's Dad drives a Ferrari and was at Silverstone) has just found this video of cars arriving at Silverstone. Around 1:16 into the video you will notice a few dodgy characters driving in on Friday morning ... these include @Robin (Red Spider) - Yorkshire AO, @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretary, myself and I think (but not sure so apologies to all concerned if I'm wrong) @Stuart Faulkner - Shows & Events Coordinator.

  9. July 1st, 2017 Spend: £0.00 Paul popped round with his extensive tool kit and we removed the head and inspected it for damages, marks and other clues. At first the head gasket seemed ok, and so did the pistons and valves except for a clean(ish) section on cylinder 1. Cylinder 1 also appeared to sit a little lower than it's counterpart 4. After rotating the crank by hand and pushing/wiggling cylinder 1, it eventually levelled up again. This seems to indicate a spun big end bearing. July 2nd, 2017 Spend: £0.00 Cleaned up garage so I have a working space for the engine and then tried to remove sump with the engine still in place. Sump would only drop about 3cm before appearing to be stuck on something on the bellhousing. Really need a crane again to lift the engine out. July 4th, 2017 Spend: £0.00 After collecting an engine crane and stand from @dombanks last night, I lifted the engine block out and after a lot of puzzling got it mounted to the stand. With the sump removed you still can't see much, so now need to turn it upside down and then remove windage plate. July 9th, 2017 Spend: £0.00 A quick 10 minutes in the garage before other chores present themselves. Rotated the engine on the stand and removed the windage plate. Nothing visible with that off, but as soon as I removed the bottom half of the conrod... Yes, that's a spun bearing all right July 19th, 2017 Spend: £0.00 Neil, a local member, kindly offered me an old spare Silvertop he had been storing inside his garage for the past couple of years. Plan is to use the crank from that engine, rather than trying to see if mine is still usable. Last month: £ 6164.80 This month: £ 0.00 ----------+ Total: £ 6164.80

  11. I think all can see but only members can post. I'll have to review permisions in the morning as on mobile right now. We also have trial and paid trial membership to ease the burden on the newbie/casual browser. It is a fine line, attracting potential new members vs increasing/sustaining revenue... Once we agree on the permissions, I think we should be in the right area of keeping existing members happy and enabling new folks to come and have a look and potentially sign up.

  13. If someone hacks into a web server, they can do all sorts, like hijacking links and forwarding particular page requests to other 'dubious' sites - all without the owner being aware. By knowing what the owner's IP address is - info found from server logs, or by only directing traffic that came via Google - they then send visitors to the porn sites etc. and the owner is blissfully unaware of anything until someone points it out or they get blacklisted!

  18. A bit thank you to Ryan Edwards Exhausts for giving me some time and parts at very short notice so that I could patch my exhaust back together before Silverstone on Sunday. Ryan is based on the Bicester Heritage site. He does some great work and has done R&D for several major manufacturers. He's also always got some really interesting stuff in due to being based on the site. As a refreshing change to some of his competitors locally, he's also helpful and cheerful! Well worth a look if you need an exhaust making up, welding etc.

  21. I see what you mean; but Build Threads is a post (not a sub-forum) containing a list of build related threads located elsewhere; whereas the Advisories, Service Bulletins & Recalls is a sub-forum containing related threads and posts. We would need to: Create a sub-forum called "Build Threads" - easy enough Find ALL the build threads - not easy at all Move them all - not as easy at it sounds Ensure that there was a trail left behind so that the original location remains for those that have short cuts, favourites, etc. - not easy at all We "could" do item 1 but it would only contain the existing pinned thread at this stage. It is however a nice idea, and as you say has been discussed before. @Chris King - Webmaster and Joint North East AO and @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretary will be along shortly to tell me I've got all of that wrong or if not, agree that it's in the pile of nice things to do that we don't have the time or resources to implement at present.

  30. Mark, It's a lovely road. I can see why Clarkson likes it so much. The only downside is that the added interest following the Top Gear exposure prompted some d*head to slap a 40mph restriction to it. Pity about the weather. If you manage to get there very early on a weekday (I suppose) you could ignore the nanny state and rag you car both ways as there are no speed cameras, only dozy sheep to worry about. Not that I did exactly that officer.....

  32. Thanks for the heads up on these @Stuart Faulkner - Shows & Events Coordinator. I should be able to attend the Classic Motor show at Wentworth assuming the weather is good ... after Silverstone I've already had my fair share of driving in the rain .
