  1. The Injected Wench, Lady Colonial and I went out for a blat today, the first real blat in genuine anger since the upgrade from carbs to throttle bodies. Last Sunday's blat was a test run, but today's blat was a proper thrashing. Leamington to Stratford on Avon via the back routes, lots of opportunities for overtaking, mixed speeds, and a fair amount of blitzing and then posing outside The Dirty Duck near the theatres, then back via a different route on the A34, where there's a 1.5 mile straight road and uphill climb where you can really push the motor. What a difference the throttle bodies have made to the driveability and performance - the car is transformed. Power is instant and progressive, cruising at low revs effortless without dramas or kangarooing, smooth idling - it's like driving a totally different car. Temperatures held steady even in traffic. I was blessed with plenty of overtaking opportunities, simple gear down and whoosh, off we went. I've put 40 miles on a full tank and the fuel gauge has barely moved as well. A flawless, wonderful blat. I am so pleased and happy with my girl once again, and she feels like she's enjoying herself again as well. I'm a very, very lucky man. When I was on committee, I frequently told members they could make a difference, something many people go through life without accomplishing. @Kit Car Electronics, @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretary, @bunje, @Chris King - Webmaster and Joint North East AO, @Northampton Motorsport - you made a big difference to me - THANK YOU.

  4. Was sorting a toolkit out for the westy boot today and needed a few bits and bobs. Noticed Halfords are having one of their usual 50% off on socket sets etc but found some really cheap stuff that may be of interest. In particular this 3/8 socket set handy kit for the boot. The ratchet on it's own is 19.99. http://www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/tools/socket-sets/halfords-advanced-18-piece-socket-set-3-8 Cheap screwdriver set http://www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/tools/hand-tools/halfords-advanced-8-piece-screwdriver-set Also got a cheap set of Allen keys and a few other bits. Most of the sale stuff is the advanced range. All lifetime warranty.

  5. Lets hope @IanK had some birthday cake, we were bereft of the stuff today. At The Wheatsheaf we met Billy, Chris and Alan After coffee, and a run down of everyone's ailments, we set off up through Buxton and over the tops. We turned right onto the lesser known roads, to take another right onto the even lesser known roads. If Alan has never been on the road before then you know it must really be in the bottom hole of nowhere The Tin Hut Coffee Tavern, Pott Shrigley Soon we arrived at The Tin Hut Coffee Tavern, it is a craft shop/cafe in a very peaceful, tranquil place, shame all these noisy sports cars have to come and ruin it . After lunch, as we were close to where Billy lived, he carried on in the same direction, we took a route up past the Cat and Fiddle. Stopping for a 'Westfield Incontinence Society' stop, before landing at everyone's favourite Castle for cake. Willersley Castle had run out of cake, how very awful, someone must have been listening to our diabetes conversation and obviously decided that we should not eat so much sugar. Toasted Teacakes it was then, with the biggest dollop of strawberry jam that I have ever seen. The conversation? what is said at a meet stays on a meet, ok with you guys? Willersley Castle car park Sat outside the Castle The cakes, of the toasted tea variety Monkeys tea party at The Castle Thanks for coming today everyone, at such short notice, I hope you have enjoyed the views and the roads as much as we have.

  6. Good turn out today, 10 Westfields, 2 lotus Elise and a Supra, also had Bugman coming along with his option list to fill out and a potential new owner coming to see what we're all about. The weather was good to us for a run up to the Carding Shed, then Richard led us on a tour of the twisty bits. Also good to see people coming from further afield, that's what decent weather and the temptation of a full English does.

  10. Cheered me up to. Babysitting duty unfortunately. I'm glad the we were able to make a difference not that I actually did much of the fitting on the day but the rest of the guys did a cracking job. I loved my throttle bodies so much I even kept them when I went to the turbo darkside. I was told they wouldn't make any difference with or without and not to bother but I kept them anyway and if anything I think it's made my wastegate chatter louder. But I'm glad your able to keep the car you've loved for so long just by altering a few bits

  16. So with three years left of the Conservative Party's term in power still to run Mrs May has decided she needs a larger majority (or mandate) to continue successfully. So who to vote for? Conservative---Theory-- Party of sound money and lower taxation. Reality-- UK national debt has increased in last 7 years from £1 trillion to £1.84 trillion (£15,800 per citizen to £29,000 each) while NHS, Social care, Education and roads are underfunded. Also tax rises on insurance premium tax and failed rise in self employed income tax and failed cut in family tax credits. Won't rule out rises in income tax, national insurance and VAT. Labour---Theory--Party of social justice, full employment & renationalise railways and bus transport. Reality--Divided party, twice in 2 years have voted in a leader the party doesn't want. Party still reviewing defence policy. Hope to fund plans with tax on large corporate tax dodgers (forgetting Britain set up most tax havens). Liberal Democrats--Theory-- Achieve equal opportunity and equality for all. Tim Farron pledges not to make coalition deals post 2017 General Election. Reality--Students won't forget Nick Clegg's coalition deal in 2010 to triple tuition fees. Seem to now be a one issue party promising to stop Brexit or withdraw the article 50 motion (forgetting Democrat is in their title). SNP (in Scotland)--Theory --Want an independent Scotland at any cost. Reality--Want an independent Scotland at any cost. UKIP--Theory--Achieve Britain's withdrawal from the EU, control immigration and cut personal taxes for all. Reality--No experience of Government and no MPs currently. If experienced politicians cannot make the sums add up can UKIP? NONE of the above--- gets my vote. Probably best just to snuggle under the duvet as winter gets ready to give us another blast. Happy voting.

  19. Miss Julie..... Gentleman of a certain age, and ladies (and I use the term loosely) of a certain age do require looooooo stops. Thank you for, once again, finding the most out of the way 'licence' cafe in the middle of nowhere that served delicious food and coffee. The return road was interesting with animals asking for mint sauce at the side of the road. Stunning roads and good company together with healthy political debate!!!! And the best presentation of tea cakes money could buy... (disclaimer..... not a sex shop in sight and browser history deleted. The days conversation content is not supported by the management!!!)

  25. A pro mechanic friend pointed me to the Halfords professional ones and he moved from snap on, he said they worked well for him and any replacements were offered without a problem. I don't have any issues with the light use I give them as a cheque book mechanic

  29. Let me introduce myself My name is Steve Pitt, but I’m pretty well known in the gaming community as “BugMan” where I’ve been a big player in World of Tanks, Warplanes and Warships. The name actually comes from fixing system boards in the IT industry from many many years ago. I started life as an apprentice engineer on machine tools and worked on some of the first CNC laths and machining centres in the UK, back in the 70’s, until the UK manufacturing industry took a nose dive in the mid 80’s, when I switched to the IT industry, where I started as a bench engineer for 10 odd years, and then switched to field work, and finally into consulting where I have been working for the last 20 odd years. So I’m pretty good with my hands and am very mechanically and logically minded, and have restored a few classic motorbikes over the years, until unfortunately a couple of years ago after a post office van ran into the back of my car, I lost a lot of strength in my shoulder, so I had to sell them, the last one going a few weeks ago. Been planning to do a kit car for many years, and watched/helped my father-in law build a Low Cost, which took him far far too long (7 years) to get on the road, and I don’t think it’s still 100% right, so have decided on a Westfield Sport 250. Spent some time looking around at all the kits on the market, including some from the USA, but just kept coming back to the Sport 250, primarily because I didn’t fancy digging through scrap yards like my father in-law did and as I had always wanted a full kit, hopefully knowing everything was going to fit the 250 looks the biz. Been reading through a few of the sport 250 build here, and have been very impressed with the results, and been taking note of thing like paint and tools people use etc. Joined WSCC as few weeks ago, and have met up with the local group, and can only thank Robin and the guys I have met so far for a very warm and friendly welcome.

  34. I think it's disgraceful to see you being picked on by a Honda owner. It's not your fault you've fitted a tumble drier instead of an engine! oh, er wait, ah, erm, I'm not helping, am I! I'm sure it's very fast when you get to know it... But don't worry, when you're at a meet, and everyone has their bonnets off, showing off shiney engines, just stand proud, and pretend you've lost the key to the bonnet catches
