Not very practical for a trip to the shops but here's a racing car that's just set a new world record for an electrically powered 0-60 time.

Requires four AA batteries (not included).

My sums say it averaged 1.8G acceleration to reach 60mph in 1.5s, so not in to fighter jet territory, but still very fast.

To show that it's on and the batteries are not isolated.

Get down to Silverstone weekend after next to see these things in action.

there was an electrick go kart demo at the Aintree revival meeting some years ago which did amazing standing start times  :t-up:
