Geoffrey's Jaunt. West Coast of Scotland Tour. June 2016

Geoffrey Carter (Buttercup)

Recommended Posts

I can see that there are various trips above and below the border being planned around June time next year.

Below is what I sent to the magazine editor a couple of months ago, and it will be included in the winter magazine.

I am posting it here now in case we can incorporate it with other planned runs to see if we can get some good get togethers worked out somehow.

Not sure of anyone's thoughts, but I reckon some good times could be had with some forward thinking.

This would be a great trip to bring along the wives, girlfriends or mistresses.

The following have confirmed the following dates they will be joining us on the tour. :d:t-up:

  • Buttercup and Carol. Every day..
  • Ziplob and Lorna. 1st, 2nd and 3rd of June
  • BloggyS7 and his wife. 30th and 31st of May and the 1st of June.
  • Silky13 and Seonad. 30th and 31st of May. Silky13 will be staying the previous night though on the 29th.
  • BollockyBill. 4th,5th,6th,7th and 8th of June.
  • GaryT. 6th, 7th and 8th of June.

I have also had various messages from local members wishing to join us on daily drives out.

I will update the above as members confirm they can join us.

THE GREAT WEST COAST OF SCOTLAND TOUR 2016.

For the past few years, we have driven around Scotland but always in our tintop. Last year we decided to take Buttercup. We had such a great response to our trip that this year we have decided to invite any other Westfield owners to join us on our 2016 adventure.
We intend to travel for ten days during the first two weeks of July.
We will travel through the Yorkshire dales before travelling to Glencoe where we will stay for a couple of nights. From here we will travel and stay on the Isle of Skye.
From Skye it will be to Ullapool before going onto Durness for a night or two.
Coming back we will travel back down the West Coast but will travel back a different route and stay in different locations which still need to be finalised.
During our trip we hope to meet the Scotland Westfield’s for a meet and greet with a drive out and lots of good banter.
Hotels rooms’ average at £80.00 per night and an evening meal is around £10.00 per person with drinks on top.
The trip will not be a speed adventure but is to admire the beautiful Scottish scenery.
Would anyone care to join us?

Hello Jedm.

You will love it.

It's the most beautiful place and suits our cars perfectly.

I will put a video of pictures up in about an hour.

You will be more than welcome and Im sure some WSCC Scotland or SKCC would join you. If the weather is good you wont drive in better scenery but come prepared :-)

Keep us posted re your routes or contact us for our preferred routes and Im sure we could also advise on accommodation whether it be hotels or Premier Inn.

Morning Scottish Westy.

Thanks so much for the offers above.

I did speak with Robert the Scottish AO a couple of months ago about a get together and it is definitely something to have ongoing discussions about.

We already have our accommodation provisionally booked. A list of Westfield friendly places would be great though for others around the places below.

Routes to follow but if you have any you can recommend from the west coast that would be great.

We will also be going cross country and will head over towards Aberfely and will loop upwards before coming back by Ben Lawers.

Will also be going from Applecross to Inverness and back again.

We are looking at Staying in the following places.

Glencoe.

Portree on Skye.

Durness.

This is based on the fact they all have a petrol garage and good places to eat and Durness in the Highlands is 24 hours.

Hello Ziplob.

That would be great.

Even part of the journey perhaps.

I want to go back to the quairang on Skye as last year it was.... Well.... Not sunny.

Hi Geoffrey

Although I couldn't do a 10 day trip due to having already planned an Alpine caper with the 'Kingster Clan' ™ ® for the last week in May / first week in June, I might be able to join in for a long weekend on your way up.

Will see if I can get a few more of our chaps to join in too - or maybe those that can't make the Alps might fancy the Highlands.

Morning.

I like the name "Kingster Clan"

Sounds a lot better than our " red stick on monkey bum club"

It would be great if you could join us even for a day or two.

I am working on proposed routes and will post these during the course of next week.

The Alps sounds brilliant though.

Depending on exact dates etc. I'd be up for joining up for a part of the Scottish leg of your trip.... Assuming the winter project goes well on the XE :-P

I'll certainly try to meet up for a day, or two.

I live on the East coast, but it's not that unusual to go west for the day.

Hello Doug.

That would be great.

A few of my planned trips go into the middle of Scotland and also over to the east.

Where about are you in Scotland.
