Cycle Wing Brackets

Recommended Posts

I am in need of new Cycle wing brackets for my 1990 SEi.

Does anyone have any knocking around that they no longer need that will fit my car.

Also in order to help me locate some, can anyone tell me what the uprights are from these pictures?

The upright looks like Cortina, it would be easier to identify if you took the wheel off and took another photo.

Thanks Chris, I have PM'd him but I think My post may be misleading. I meant if I can identify the uprights it will help me locate the cycle wing brackets.

If your cycle wing brackets look like the one below, and attach by one leg bolting on at the brake calliper, and then a flat horizontal strip secured by the nut that holds the top ball joint on, then they're Cortina brackets. (What I can just about see in the photo does look a bit Cortina-ish)

If if on the other hand, they attach by two bolts into the back or the upright they're probably alloy uprights, in which case the upright would have a bolt in steering arm at the front, and unless painted, be a dull silver colour.

The third option, the old Westfield fabricated uprights look very different to what I can see in the photos.

Yours looks like early suspension, with presumably early type wing brackets. I'm not sure how well the later style brackets would fit...

Hi Dave, They are not Alloy, they are cast and they mount on the top ball joint and one caliper bolt.

From what I am reading I am confident they are Cortina uprights.

Looking at your picture, I think that one may well fit, But are they still available from anywhere? Or does anyone have a pair they don't need.

Cheers, Mike

Try Parts Wanted on this forum, worked for me.

  • 1 year later...

Despite getting a new pair of brackets, I am still having problems with them breaking. :(

The new brackets wouldn't fit with my calipers, so I had to use the bottoms of my old ones and the tubes of the new ones but they are still breaking.

does anyone know of anyone who can make me a pair from a sample?
