Following a meeting of the MSA Production Tyre Advisory Panel, the Motor Sports Association can now confirm Tyres Lists 1A-C, for use where required in 2016. To view 2016 Tyres Lists 1A-C, please click here.

The new Tyre List 1C is for Competition Tyres compliant with the EEC Regulation 30 standard, and intended exclusively for use in racing. This incorporates tyres previously listed under 1B that do not comply with new legislation.

Tyres designed for use on cars first registered before 1 October 1990 are exempt from EU Regulation 1222/2009 for tyre labelling. Therefore a number of tyres remaining on list 1B will only be valid for cars registered before that date – those tyres are appropriately annotated within list 1B.

if i have this right 1a 1b tyres are road going and certain 1c tyre are if the care is pre 1990?

so next question, whats "OE Fitments"?

ZZR (OE Fitments marked 15156 & 15157 only)

Supplied new with the car at point of sale as original equipment or available from dealers. I see the Lotus "LTS" tyres are listed. That's going to make some money for the dealerships then!

Anyone who's got a pre 1990 Westfield will be happy too!

Same question as the panda ! Which is going to be the best / fastest tyres for a 1996 car in a road going class ? Will they allow the soft versions of the tyres? So for example 888 in SG compound ?

Cheers Paul

I don't understand what they are saying! Maybe we need to see the full text which will presumably only be available when we have the blue book for next year? Maybe Nick can explain? I do however see that the Khumo V70A is still in list 1B, so if the super soft ZZR is no longer available to us in road going classes, then we revert to using the super soft V70A, I should think.

I think but not sure  super soft khumo wont be on 1b list.  soft compound maybe will .same as the zzr tyres are road going compound A64

zzs are ok because they are harder.

looks like anyone with a pre 1990 car should do well next year . the only cars allowed supersoft tyres.

that's the way I'm reading it, which doesn't exactly create a fair set of rules for those of us with post 1990 registered cars ???

Mind you, if someone makes me a sensible offer for my car, it isn't going to affect me!
