Never too late to say hello!

Its all Westfords fault! Having a background of bikes and classic cars, and having built a Crendon replica (Cobra) my long time mate who bought a semi completed kit and I believe detailed the build on here, has been trying to persuade me for over a year to get a Westfield. Having sold the Cobra meant I could consider it, but in all honesty wasn't feeling it! We attended a couple of hillclimbs at Gurston near Salisbury and talked about competing at a 'lets have some fun' level as opposed to a national level. Eventually I started looking, missed a load of cars but eventually found one locally on the forum. Its a 1800 sport, silver top, on throttle bodies, MT75 box British racing Black   It had only done 1000 miles since it was built.

Even on the day of collection I cant honestly say I had the overwhelming feeling of excitement I should have done, I think a big bike accident a few years ago gives a sense of vulnerability.

However.........very quickly after having the car a few weeks, with some miles under my belt and making a few changes to 'make it mine' I can only describe it as having as much fun as is possible with your clothes on! Totally converted, makes me smile every time I get in it :d Don't know why I didn't do it years ago!

So far upgraded to 13" CXR rims with R888's and fitted the RAC roll bar that was included in the sale. Plan over a period of time is to fit an ST170 engine, already obtained, a type 9 gearbox, picking up middle of September (also forum sourced!) consider a CNC head and hopefully get to around 220BHP. The motivation for the upgrades is to make some vain attempt to keep up with Westford in his very sorted Westie at Gurston otherwise he wont let me forget it :p

I have some bits for sale already so will post those when I can, 5x15" wheels, hood frame, hood etc.

Its a really great club and a great forum, looking forward to being part of the fun

Forgot to say Peter, they like pictures on here, so get some up!

OK, so it was my fault, but I enjoy the whole westie ownership thing so much I couldn't understand how he couldn't. Suffice to say that a set of 13" rims, some sticky rubber followed by a good hoon and he was a convert. Watch this space, I think the winter upgrades will be awesome!
