Petemac
Having never been fortunate enough to own one I have just purchased the above with forty thou miles on the clock W reg looks very good, is there anyone who has owned one that can give me your thoughts on this car and what you liked/ disliked and anything in particular I should look out for. Much appreciated. Pete
BudSlater
I had a 2002 3.2S, was an excellent car in so many ways. Hard to find something that I didn't like about it, servicing & insurance costs were reasonable, reliable, repair costs were not a big deal. The lower suspension arms do wear (the coffin arms) but it was just an excellent toy! Would still have it had the brood not been extended! Arm
Whats the sweet spot on year / engine / reliability ?
Petemac
Brill thanks for the swift reply I'm a little excited even though I'm knocking on 60 do you think 40 thousand miles a good bargain at just under 7 grand? to buy?
BudSlater
60's not old! The friend who bought mine is 60. Is it a 2.7 or 3.2? I'd be concerned at the low mileage, provided it's got all the history and time based servicing rather than miles then that sounds about right. Mine was near mint with 97K on it and I got 6K for it about a year ago
Terry Everall
Mine was a 3.2 Boxster S and a great car to drive with top down and heater on if needed plus the woolly hat. Easy in traffic and quite kick in 2nd gear with the wonderful engine howl. Keep the red drain channels cleaned our or condensation builds up in winter and if the passenger carpet gets wet the alarm system can be damaged and is costly to repair. dombanks
Wasn't there something about bore score on one if the cylinders due to a poor coolant system and something to do with the flywheel to look out for? I dont meant to sound scary i can't remember exact details so would need a google about to find out more

D7PNY
Looked in to getting one a while back. When I was looking there appeared to be a few main issues to look out for/be wary of... - Bore score as mentioned above - Intermediate main shaft issues - Rear main seal - Drain channels as mentioned above Still mighty tempted by them although would have to be a 987 for me with the updated dash etc. Dave

Red Flash
Get yourself on the Porsche GB club forum, there's plenty of people on there who will share/provide advice. Not wishing to state the obvious, but perhaps it would have been best to ask a few questions / seek some advice before parting with your cash. Red Flash
Oh, the guy I bought our current westy from replaced it with a Boxster S. I think Ian still pops on this forum, so he might cherp in at some point
Petemac
Thanks guys for the replies. I have only placed the deposit to hold the car at the moment and will see it on Saturday, should I decide to go and buy it can anyone suggest Insurances companies I could try? I am getting some really stupid quotes from some of them at the moment, £500+ I am sure I can beat that, I know it won't be garaged so that makes a difference, and as for taking the Seight out of the garage that's a "BIG NO WAY MAN" Again thanks for all the advice and tips very much appreciated, great club this so glad I joined. Red Flash
Companies who I have found very competitive in the past are: A Plan, Liverpool Victoria, Classic line to name a few. Hope you get sorted.
