Rubber Mount for Exhaust

Kevin (Mr T)

Recommended Posts

This is hardly technical, so I've popped it here.

This......

.......is the rubber mount that supports my side pipe. I want to take it off, so that my vinyl wrap is underneath it, rather than cut around.

I can't work out how to get it off. Is there a knack to it?

Any advice would (as usual) be appreciated.

Kevin.

when you replace it a good long lasting solution to the problem of them snapping is to replace it with a mk1 fiesta g box mount

there a big square mount and will last the life of the car

On mine there is a flap of carpet which hides a hole in the trim panel. Lift the flap, look inside and there is the inner fastener. I've just replaced mine.

It looks like a soft M6 exhaust bobbin.  My exhaust and fuel pump are hung on them.  There's a thread sticking out the other side, and as my chassis has M8 or M10 nuts welded into it, look for a (unwelded) M6 nut.

There's not a hole in the inner trim panel, but I guess i could cut one to see what's there. That's a job for Saturday. Watch this space!

I know its stating the obvious but they are symmetrical. What you see on the outside is exactly what you are looking for inside. Good luck..

Only one other thing to consider is that these bobbins can also have a male/female thread arrangement therefore you could have a female thread on the inside with a bolt holding it on as opposed to a stud with a nut.

Just a thought.
