Jonk179
We decided to have a trip out in the westy today . Set off from Rochdale and got all the way to Morcambe when stuck in traffic the b****y clutch cable snapped, I was not a happy camper. I was not having a trip on the breakdown truck of shame so taking an extended route we managed to make it home with clutch less up shifts and lots of fun at lights and roundabouts. The question is what clutch cable do I need? It's a cvh with a type 9 box and top mounted pedals. Oh and the trip out was for the wife's birthday and she wasn't best pleased when she thought she may have to push! Any part numbers would be a bonus. Thanks Jon
Pistol Pete
Not completely sure for a cvh, but most engines attached to a type 9 require a rs2000/pinto clutch. Well done in making it home, lack.of weight does help when staying in the higher gears.
scubajess
http://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic/58279-which-clutch-cable/?fromsearch=1 My car was fitted with Type 9 gearbox by the way. It doesn't matter which engine is fitted, it depends on gearbox and pedal box so it will be either a Capri or Escort cable.
Tim Reid
Sorry to say this now but the AA will make you a temporary cable at the side of the road so no need for a tow home. Mine lasted a trackday and 100 road miles unit the new cable arrived from Westfield.
CraigHew
I carry a universal clutch / throttle repair kit, only a fiver off ebay.....
SootySport
Just take out the remains of the clutch cable and toddle down to your local motor factor/car spares shop. You'll need a Ford Capri/Escort/Cortina cable, several part no's available but as long as the Ends are the same and the right lengths the parts man should find one for you. Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO
I carry a universal clutch / throttle repair kit, only a fiver off ebay..... Hi Craig, great idea. But you won't need it for the clutch ! It's Hydraulic.

Jonk179
Just fitted the new cable. It turns out it's a Capri GT cable, part number FKC 1097 made by Firstline. I hope this helps anyone in the future.
