Long range fuel tank (SEW)

Planning this years upgrades and an increased range is on the top of my list.  Could potentially have normal SEW fuel tank to swap/exchange depending on timings.  What have you?

If you're planning on doing it Q, be aware that at the Q&A at WSC's recent open day it was mentioned that so few ZK bodywork long range tanks were actually sold now, there was a strong possibility it might be discontinued in the near future.

I'm sort of hoping for a tank that someone once bought with the full intention of installing, but never got to it ;)  Although if WSC are discontinuing it, the price will rise :(

Now I'm going to go full monty with upgrades, this is actually something I'd really like to upgrade to

A bump therefore...

Not sure if you're aware but the standard bootbox will not fit with a long range fuel tank. Although this may not be an issue for you.

There definitely isn't a glut of petrol stations in deapest Scotland, but we managed fine with a standard tank on our tour.

(but did carried 5l emergency container just in case)

I don't have a bootbox, and because I use the Westfield (almost) exclusively to travel back and forth to work (40 miles each way), I have to fill up every other day. And I dislike the standard filler neck position, so was planning to go to a boot panel with a top filler made into it.

 understand your logic

May be worth looking at fabricators to make one to your measurements (or modify your current), which could end up larger capacity than the WSC long range.

Possibly not much dearer than WSC one as well.

If that's your plan, Q, and as you say, you have no boot box, then I, with Dave on this, you're better off having somethin made to suit; the factory long range tank was always compromised by the need to fit under the modified boot box and to have the fuel inlet where it did, to match existing cars - the inlet effectively being too low on the tank meant you couldn't use all the extra capacity anyway.

I suppose that's an option I could take too. Probably easier to do with the car still in one piece to show the fabricator, so best plan this job this month ;)

i've been considering and watching for a long range tank myself. Also considering making one Better baffled and not as flat bottomed. An different idea option I've not really worked out would be a reserve tank... Not the red plastic type but something with a tap or dash board switch to dump a gallon or so fuel into the main tank when empty. Then to use the existing fuel pump to fill the reserve up while refilling. It's just an idea. !!!
