No I'm with Dom - as well as the short days I just hate this grey, grey and more grey.  And I do get out 'cos I'm retired.  But it's still grey

You need to move to Sunny Manchester  :d

On Tuesday morning I went for a little walk, 10 minutes from my front door I was here.

Feel exactly the same as you Dom, I think its called SAD syndrome or something like that and due to lack of exposure to day light. I do make an effort to get out and execise at weekends though and find a good long walk or 40 miles on the pushbike makes me feel a hell of a lot better.

The first bonus is that you woke up, the rest is optional.

When I worked the last few year were spent Setting Out, basically re-drawing the Architects stuff in a way it could be made, to be a Setter out you needed to have experience on the tools, on site fixing and in the works on the bench, Our drawing office was a shed within the works, no natural light, no ventilation, noisy Joiners banging away all day, if we opened the door the place filled with sawdust, stifling hot in summer, freezing cold in winter, And we would sit behind our cadstations from 8 till 6, 5 days a week and saturday mornings, we had half an hour for dinner, I would gulp down my sarnie and brew in 10 minutes then go for a walk around the block for the next 20 minutes or so, come rain or shine I was out there, no one would join me, most took the pi$$ when it rained, but I wanted some air and daylight so that was my routine for the last 12 years of my working life.

And don't get me going about working outside on site

We have become programed to be depressed when it is winter. Yes the grey days do get me down, but the alternative is moving to sunnier climes or to wait to die.

I always worked in cold workshops as a mechanic but now office or car bound I feel the cold so much more as heating is now always too hot. I often find myself sitting in a T shirt instead of turning the heating down. This makes you sleepy, but when I brave a cold day, crisp underfoot, or go for a blat on New years day it makes life good for a while.
