For Sale

For sale is the rollbar that was fitted to my widebodied SEiW when I bought the car.

It looks like it's either originally off a Caterham or is made for a Westfield to look like a Caterham's rollbar as the support stays are inboard. Regardless, it's the correct width to fit a widebody Westfield's standard hoop mounts (although the support stays do not mate to any mounts on a standard chassis). It has a single cross brace between the hoops. It's painted black and in average condition for the age.

Yours for £40.

Will post at cost, or free to collect from Stockport/Manchester.

Billy , have you tried putting it on locost builders site

Might sell it easier on there :)

I don't have an account on there and they expressly prohibit creating an account just to sell something. But, yes, I agree, it is more suitable to a non-Westy owner as it is likely a Caterham part.

Anyway, its now on eBay, same price but I'm not offering to post it at cost (just collection only).

This roll bar is still for sale. New photo. From following recent Tech Talk posts, I now believe this to be a pre-lit Westfield roll bar.

Double-check this is the right size for you. The sizes are:

  • 32mm diameter hoop;
  • 27.2mm diameter cross member;
  • 25.5mm diameter stays;
  • 895mm bolt centre to bolt centre; and,
  • 468mm outside edge to outside edge on the stays.

A few cosmetic marks from storing on the floor in my garage but in otherwise alright condition.

Thanks for looking.

'Scuse my ignorance, but would it fit a post lit wide body? I'm not quite sure looking at the photo but I'm sure I could modify it if necessary. And do you know if it's up to MSA spec for racing?

Thanks,

Jack

The main hoop fits my post lit wide body, a 1993 SEiW, just fine. It was fitted when we bought the car and is as shown in the first picture. The rear stays do not have anything to mount to on a post lit wide body though they are are near enough to the top chassis rail that a mount could be fabricated.

I don't know about MSA spec and racing but the diameter of the tube is not as big as the latest MSA rollbars that I have seen.

Super. The car looks similar to mine. Mine has brackets for back stays but I think they're wider apart, nonetheless I think it could be modified to fit.

Could I hassle you once more for it's height above the body and the tube wall thickness?

Thanks, Jack

The vertical height is 373mm, although it may be slightly less as it leans forward when fitted, i.e. is not perpendicular. See the photo above and you will see what i mean. The tube of the main hoop is 3mm thick (hard to be more precise as the ends are plugged so could not get the vernier gauge on it).

Thanks for that. I will consult the blue book and look at what I need on the car (height-wise) and get back to you asap.

Cheers,

Jack
