what is a crash pad?

It's the padded piece of trim that fits to the top of the scuttle and covers the joint between the top and outer sides of the dashboard and the scuttle itself. (On ZK body work)

On older kit bodywork, it still fits in the same place, but is shorter at the sides - it finishes level with the bottom of the screen uprights. It also has a more pronounced, and padded version of the rolled edge that's moulded into the scuttle for the dash to fit into.

They're a "finisher" type piece of trim, really.

Thanks for explaining. Not a requirement of mine. Good luck with moving it on.

Wonder how easy it would be for me to modify this to fit my wide body? Just for the IVA so wouldn't need to be an amazing job...

I once modified a Kit Bodywork version to fit the wider ZK bodywork scuttle, here

Might give some ideas...

Nice work Dave, bit too much work involved for me at the minute though.

Darve, really? I don't want one, I was just under the impression I needed one for IVA (not that I can see anything particularly related in the IVA manual).

Hopefully I'll get away without it then! Thanks.

yup. this is how the car was the evening before the test. note the fixing screws aren't pronounced and therefore weren't a "sharp edge"
