New Westfield owner 1990 stage3 xflow. Help already :)!

Evening, so this is my new toy (2months in my hands already). It's a 1990 factory built Westfield with a stage 3 xflow, maybe it's already known on here?

Anyway lots of tinkering to do, carbs are off ready for news gaskets and bigger pump jets.

Lots of re wiring to do as it looks like it's bits added through the years.

I've got a leaking break master cylinder I think, I've added a picture maybe someone can advise? Not a clue what to replace it with at the moment.

Mighty crossflow :-) looks like a stock master cylinder - not sure of it myself but it looks like mine - enjoy the cross flow - twin 40"s ?

That's a stock MKII Escort master cylinder, same as mine. It's easy to pull apart and rebuild kits exist. My seals were all good but the whole thing was filthy so a good clean up has done the job for me.

Nice to see another crossflow and your car looks nice too.

Question for anyone, what's the yellow band around the master cylinder? MIne has/had a brown one.

Quick replies! I'll look for a new seal kit, I've noticed all the master cylinders I've seen have different orientation flange mounts?

Yeah on 40's, fallen in love with sound of the cross flow :) not to sure I'll get on track with the current exhaust!

It's not an Escort master cylinder. It's from a Mk3 cortina NON SERVO and you'll do well to find either a new one or a seal kit. A chap up north had some when I needed one although it was expensive. I'll try to dig out the details for you tonight.

Edit:

Details on my thread on the same subject here:

The first suggestion is not suitable - the servo part has a different bore size.

The seal kits look good though.

Oh yes! Now I'm looking at it without the benefit of Merlot tinted glasses, it is different from the MKII Escort one although it's very similar. The Escort one would do the job although they are around £150-£200 new.

Looking better already, it'll make the rest of the engine bay look a mess now!

Mmmm 40's. The sound of those feeding a crossflow is one of the greatest sounds ever. Mind you, they sell for a small fortune these days. The last pair I bought cost £50......

Hi welcome to the club. I was trying to work out where in Wiltshire you are from your photo locations, but failed. Anyway I am in Westbury and halfway through my Mazda SDV build.
