Is it ever alright to lie to the OH..?

I've nearly finished the house rebuild during which I had bought what seems like every DIY tool known to man, so getting the Westie is a nice thing to keep me occupied.

The OH has just witnessed me unloading the tool chests (after all the other recent stuff) and asked "is this car just an excuse to buy things again?"

I was bought up being told that lying is bad.. What should I actually tell her?

They are a solid investment that will save money in the long run.

there is a difference between a lie and being economical with the truth  ;)  :d

Only lie to her about tool / car expenditure to the extent that she does about shoes / handbags / makeup / her hobbies.

If she simply keeps quiet about such expenditure (and you, sensibly, never ask) then treat that as the way that things should be with the car...

I find selective hearing effective. However we've only been married 3 years and living together 5 so I may be rumbled on this soon.

Just tell the truth right from day one.

She will get over it.

If you tell the truth you will not be telling lie after lie to cover things up or constantly worried you will be found out.

You could show her how much you appreciate her at the club's expense... :t-up:

I've had that socket set for years, oh that's a last years torque wrench. You've seen that before !!. Seems to fit in with shoes and dresses somewhat. Best of all "it was a bargain ",

Maybe not

Her indoors doesn't read my posts thankfully.

It's simple, promise that tool storage space means less mess and means you can clear some space in the house :)

NO NO NO & NO

Better to face a little pain earlier telling it as it is (almost), than worry about receipt then receive lots of pain when found out.

My wife went into the garage and said....'you've got another bike'.....I replied ' no, I've just resprayed the tank' .she fell ...hl&s.

Funny.....she can't keep count...but....new colours appearing miraculously overnight seem to ring alarm bells.

Seriously.......don't listen to us.....do what the little devil sitting on your shoulder tells you!.......

You know her.

I decided to give in and follow orders from the OH...

The OH had previously said she wants the DIY tools out of the house when I'm done and that also means the attic is off limits.

So the shed is the only place left.

Seeing how she saw me lugging the boxes into the shed and they had tool storage written all over them I simply said they are to keep all my tools in good condition. I didn't say which tools...

And I told her I got £300 off...

So I was simply doing what she asked me to. So I'm a good husband.

I'm kinda hoping she won't notice a 6" thick hammer drill won't fit into a 3" high drawer. And I will simply sell all my power tools to you lot.

BIG mistake.  She probably thinks you spent at least a grand to get that sort of discount.
