Hi All

My name is Ross Wasson. I live in North Wales. I have just bought my first Westfield and looking on some info on it and when meets take place in my area.

My knowledge on these is limited at the moment but have a long rally back ground back in Ireland so know the bits.

It's a 2003 built se with a 20 liter red top fitted. Running twin 45s and mbe ignition system and 4 branch sbd. Have been told it has cams and some head work. Running type 9 5 speed box and solid rear axel. Only have the car a week and it goes very well. Needs few bits to tidy up but will do over time. Main reason getting car was to try few track days.

Looking if anybody knows any history on car as will probably end up opening engine and getting re tuned if not.

It's a dark red colour and on reg 961 DRK.

Will try get picture up ASAP.

Thanks Ross

Morning Ross,

There's a handy map of "Areas" here I guess your probably closest to Wirral & North Wales Area, Shrospshire looks a little furtther, but not too bad on the map.

Feel free to visit as many areas and events as you fancy though - we're not precious or territorial about it!

Sounds a nice spec car - the Red Top is a cracking engine in a Westfield  - I owned one for years, and loved it!

Look forward to seeing the pictures.

Welcome from another relatively new owner from North Wales. Lovely sounding car you have there. Took mine over the horse-shoe pass yesterday and had a fantastic drive - whereabouts are you based?

Hi

Am from cilcain just outside Mold. Yea it feels really good up to 70 not sure about the high speed still nervous and trying to build confidence. Far from a good handling mark 2 but hope fully it will prove me wrong. Might give Anglesey a try next track day.

Tyres and as has been said here a fair few times before tyre pressures make a huge difference

18 to 20 psi if you don't already know as the cars are so light

Take your time and just enjoy your new toy for now, then, when you've got the hang of it, enter the Speed Series and so us all what it can do  :t-up:  :t-up:  :t-up:

Hi Ross, from Essex.  I'm a Redtop power man too.     If you are coming from a Mk2 Escort then a Westfield will in no way resemble it, it's a completely different story. Westy's are low, light and nimble.   Making our cars stable at high speed is not as complicated as you would think, just needs a touch of toe in at the front and  back wheels and setting the suspension by a good alignment man who is familiar with Seven type cars. Mine was all wrong when I bought it and 70 was scary, now 130 on the track is rock solid I couldn't be happier.

Enjoy your car this summer and as Terry says watch a sprint event, they are QUICK!

ps.  as you like Mk2's, have a read of this http://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic/45193-windys-new-project/ I suggest you read it instalments, it's quite long.
