ian996
I know this wont sell quickly as it appears to me that westfield owners like to keep their costs down and people weighing up the price of engines like these rarely see the value in them, but i can assure you, a professionally built and mapped/sealed engine like this will not be cheap to get this spec and as any building engines know there are a lot of hidden costs involved, which suck up time, money and resources. Well anyway, here's the ad, probably likley i will end up breaking for parts as it's the only way i'll recover my cash. Westfield supplied 2.0L Duratec 9200 Genuine Miles since new Webcon Alpha Pro4 ECU & Throttlebodies with full Webcon Duratec Loom, Injectors linkage etc and pipercross deep air filter with carbon backplate (£1100) Northampton Motor Sport ultimate performance head with NMS Ultimate Peformance Cams to special profile by Kent Cams, Vernier Pulleys, Uprated Valve Springs and Retainers all cam follower tolerances checked and adjusted by NMS (£650) New Starter Motor from NMS (£20) Raceline Alloy Wet Sump - excellent condition (£350) Raceline Lightweight Flywheel (£100) AP Racing Clutch and cover (£150) Elite lightweight alternator (£100) SBD Stainless and lightweight Manifold (4-2-1) (£400) Relocated oil filter housing with pressure take off (£30) NMS Rolling road print out of 218bhp at 7850rpm Sept 12 I believe it has also got ARP rod bolts due to the raised rev limit All sensors included Block, crank and pistons (£150) Coil pack and leads (£20) This was a new crate engine 9200 miles. Track Tested, no smoke at all, strarts and runs fine, very smooth and linear power delivery plenty of torque, this really is a great engine and a great base for future modification. Alpha Pro 4 is the latest supported webcon alpha ECU and fully mappable by NMS, though this wont be required on this engine - it's drop in and go. Lots of receipts and paperwork, dyno plot from NMS. Bill for Engine health check and resetting cam tolerances was £1300 so some time and money has been spent on this engine making sure it's healthy and reliable. £2850 delivered on a pallet or pick up from Leicestershire. It does need a few bits, i'll be as honest as possible. The engine i bought didnt have an EGR blanking plate so i had to reuse the one off this, will get one for the buyer as they are dirt cheap anyway. You will need the alternator bracket and tensioner, i will also supply a new one to the owner as again i had to use them to modify a location. The FPR i had to reuse too as the engine i bought didnt have one, these are just £85 for a 3.5 bar steady state webber alpha FPR so you buy one or use whatever one you like. Fuel hoses are 5/16". If i break, prices are in brackets Engine in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-UusDmtqYc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKe8WXICB0g Pics Silencer not ioncluded, but manifold upto silencer is. Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
I can't even begin to tell you how much time, money, messing around and frustration you will save your self going for one of these "ready to fit" engine packages. Having been there and got the T Shirt myself when it comes to having put a higher end engine together and critically, developing the "install" to suit a Westfield, plus all the mapping, testing, tweaking, mapping again etc that goes into this sort of thing; believe me, the costs for doing it yourself are probably quite a bit higher again than Ian's estimates. This sort of package isn't just a real bargain, it's a ticket to 'pass go and collect your £200', as you neatly bypass all the aggro of developing it yourself. Kingster
Yes, I know, I am in the process of trying to figure out a way to afford it! This sounds like it could be a perfect engine for me (even though I will no doubt have to get the T-9 fettled to cope with it) - it yet again blows away my overall build budget, but getting used to that! darve
Do it kingster - you'll hit £2k whatever engine you chose. £850 extra for a complete very powerful engine that will definitely keep the upgraditus at bay is definitely worth the money. If I was building from a multi donor like yourself, I would be looking at acquiring a package like this myself. Just be careful as 218bhp will be fast

Kingster
Move over guys, sounds like it's sold haha - well, not quite! I have yet to talk to Ian! (or the tax-vat-savings account for that matter) - but the wee man in my head is saying "do it, do it!", but got to get to grips with fiscal shenanigans! Kingster
if you're concerned about the savings.......then look at it this way.......you're SAVING money long term so it's just a cash flow issue Indeed, it is just cashflow - and the cash is currently flowing out to the taxman by July 31st, then there's a trip to Mexico 1st week in Sept - so flowing out far too fast right now. I had intended to do my engine in stages and my spreadsheet shows it can be done for less (but not as well) - however, the idea of a well sorted Duratec that won't need the added expense of an RR session down the line really appeals! So, Ian, giz a bell
