London Dawn Raid

TAFKARM

Recommended Posts

Im heading into central London on Saturday morning, just for a bit of fun. Planning on arriving at 6am for sunrise and then drive round take a few pictures while the place is quiet.

Im sure someone on the forum has organised somethng like this before (its where i got the idea to be honest)

Anyone care to suggest a route / some good stopping points and photo ops?

The Essex crew did this a couple of years ago, my advice would be do the west end first (gets busy) then head to the city where its dead at the weekend.

Stopping places:

Outside lloyds is good

outside the old willis building opposite the tower if london

watch your speed and enjou.

A drive through Hyde park for the tourists to take photos of you and round Buck House/Constitution Hill.  Across Tower Bridge (careful there, it's only 20mph).

Try and plan a circular route with the sights Pete and I suggest ending up at Docklands.

I would do Three Lords in Minories, The Lamb At Leadenhall, The Coal Hole on the Strand, The Rivoli Bar at the Ritz, James J Fox Cigar Merchants in Picadilly, Joseph Trickers in Jermyn Street, the Fox club on Clarges St for dinner…. That used to me my day at work :-)

What about the low emission zone??

only for hgv and not in force at weekends, so not an issue. You need to do it while you/we are still allowed ;)

Sure speed won't be the order of the day, but watch out for cameras in the Limehouse tunnel if you head out to Canary Wharf.  There's one that must make a fortune as it looks like the limit should be higher than it is...

I hope they save that for the next issue of WW, which has a copy deadline in about 3 weeks - and I suspect shots are being saved for the Westfield Photo of the Year Competition!

I doubt it's worthy of a WW write up! I'll update the thread a bit later this evening....
