Mat Jackson
Ford focus based, not the westie.. My front caliper on the focus is sticking. Took the wheel of and was able to tap the pad bank with a hammer, ancient was also able to push them back with a screwdriver. However, apply the brakes and the caliper sticks on again... All sliding surfaces are clean - before I get a new caliper, is there anything else I should check?
Norman Verona
Try removing one pad and using two screwdriver, one opposite the other, get someone to gently press the brake pedal and allow the piston to come out then gently prise it all the way back. Do this a few times. Then replace that pad and do the other side. Remove the master cylinder cap whilst you are doing this as you may have brake fluid overflowing the cylinder. This usually frees off a sticking piston.
blue ass fly
Is it the piston thats seizing and not a hose pinched or collapsed Try as norman said but crack the bleed nipple and if the piston frees off then its not the caliper
