SORN, do you ?

My Westy lives outside all year round, as have all my previous 'toys'

I've never bothered to SORN them, as I do enjoy a run if the sun is out, even if the temp doesn't match the outlook.

And SORN doesn't mean I get to lock it in the garage and work in the warm, so I pay the full years road tax, and hope to get some winter use.

And so we decided to have a little run today.

Spent 3 hours out and about without stopping so plenty of smiles per gallon, even if the might xflow does drink more juice than my Boxster did !

We went form Southport over to Horwich, up to Rivington, back via Chorley , Croston and top end of Southport.

Nope, not the most exciting roads, nor the fastest, in fact we didn't breach a single speed limit all day ( some facts of this story may have been changed )

No roof, no doors, just the wind deflectors.

Mrs asked what I was wearing against the weather, I said a fleece, wooly hat and gloves, it's a lovely day out. And a balmy 7 degrees.

She then set about like dressing as an extra from a winter catastrophe movie.

The wind deflectors do a great job at deflecting roadside mud ( lets just agree it was mud, and not cow related )

And nothing a quick wash couldn't sort out.

And we enjoyed blue sky the whole time

Glad you had a good run in the sun. Definitely worth keeping the car on the road over winter to take advantage of the sunny days, in my humble opinion.

Good pics, loving the lotus badge too.

I've always taxed for the full year as there are many many decent days over winter for a run out, granted sometimes few and far between tho.

The other benefit is that the cars seem to run better the colder the intake air temp....:d

Definitely NO SORN for me! Had some great Winter blast over my Westie ownership :yellow-westy:

I didn't SORN mine for the first ten years or more, but I have come to realise how exposed I am in it and how negligent many other drivers are despite headlights being on at all times. I am at an age when I know that if anything gets broken it will very likely not mend properly so being a devout coward mine is now SORNed all year and comes out for track days and MoT visits only. It lives in a civilised garage, on my trailer, and hasn't been run for a couple of years for various unforeseen reasons. Eight years ago I bought my Z3 to satisfy the top-down urge and sadly I haven't had the opportunity to use that as much as I'd like. Both it and the Westfield will remain, though, unless my dotage dictates otherwise! Tin-top rules - for now.

Actually that's not a bad strategy. keep the Westfield until it stops being fun then chop it in for same value tin top sports car.

food for thought for when I'm an old(er) tw*t.

It hasn't stopped being fun at all! Having people pull out of side turnings when I'm approaching 'briskly' isn't fun though. It happened just once too often. Track days are safer than road driving in my view.

I run a convertible BMW as my daily, perhaps I just like fresh air :sun:

don't misunderstand, I certainly wasn't commenting on your situation, more so of my future plans

No problems, this is the Boardroom not Pistonheads! :)

We did a few longish runs in the Westfield over several years, discovered that rain comes in under the windscreen, and that there's not a lot of carrying space. The Z3 ticks most of the boxes for fun drives and the Westfield ticks the rest of them on the track. We'll be back on the track in 2018 if the Fates permit. I tried the Z3 on track one December when the temperature was simply too low for the Westfield and it acquitted itself well considering its original target market was the US, but the brakes didn't like it much. Handling was far better than the naysayers would have you believe.
